There are quite a few things that used to be common place on standard TfL service buses in the (excluding the RMs on the heritage routes) that have either disappeared or certainly heading towards extinction since around the 2005 mark. Any other ideas or discussion as to why these features have disappeared and whether it was beneficial/necessary welcome! - Step entrance and articulated vehicles are the obvious ones.
- 3 track number blinds - gone completely? Recall ADL 61, 63 and 64 found their way onto the 410s when I was at college in Crystal Palace/South Norwood in 2009 - were these the last buses to feature 3 track blinds?
- Spiral staircases - believe TA1 was the only normal service bus with this feature for quite some time. However, they look set to return with a vengence with the Borismasters.
- Bench seats - TA1 and a few V/W reg DLAs retain theirs, are there any other buses that do however? Again, set to return with the NB4L.
- Single deckers 9.0m or longer without centre exit doors. The X26's Citaros are an understandable exception to the rule but otherwise, these are getting hard to come by. Plumstead have a few 9.3m Darts and Dartford have a few such Cadets on some of the B1x routes - any others?
- Centre staircases! A few W reg PVLs remain, as well as London United's VAs and VPs. Any others?
- 3 line via points on blinds.
- Bus Stopping displays - still a lot of buses running around with them but many disappeared when the iBus displays were mooted.

Bench seats are very comfortable imo so them being removed is a bit silly but im sure theres a good reason which could be that if a seat gets ripped or vandalised then its easier and cheaper to retrim a smaller area.

I personally think bench seats have a issue where they can easily be broken as the cushion you sit on isn't fastened to the frame of the seat. I have noticed this on many buses with bench seats. Also they collect alot of dust i dont know if that is because of the thicker cushion.
Any how I much prefer esteban civic V2/V3 seats tbh.

Well I hadn't been upstairs on a DLA nor had rode TA1 in a while. I suppose you could say they are still around but you'd have to go deep into the wilderness to search for them, I personally prefer Bench Seats to the individual seats that we have on modern buses such as Enviro400s, Omnicities, etc. To Urbinate yes they may be still around but in my area all I have is 02-04/09 Regs running around.

One I forgot to mention was one piece doors that fold in half - very common with step entrance deckers in London. After 2005, I believe the only buses which retained this feature were the V90x FEC Tridents with Blue Triangle which are no longer working on TfL services, mores the pity .

Buses with opening Assault Screens or without Assault Screens all together. - Though I saw an open one yesterday! To my limited knowledge, its only certain vehicles from Abellio's WS garage that still retain this feature. It was their MPD's on the H28 that were the last vehicles I saw on TfL services to run without an Assault Screen when under T*GM, Travel London control.
Non standard liveries have also disappeared, such as the yellow/blue (A10) Heathrow Fast and the 2 tone green (H50) Trainlink liveries

Cleanliness? That's been missing from the 192's for some time ;D Four- leaf doors at the entrance, painted yellow have long gone as well... They used to be on the Fleetlines that used to be on the 55 to Ealing Broadway back in the day (long before the E1 started in the 80's) Flipdot displays (we had a brief flirtation with them in the early 90's on some routes like the 128) as demonstrated here www.flickr.com/photos/24759744@N02/7980702414/in/set-72157619787564858/

Bench Seats they are long gone. (Unless that is what binpod was stating) The days of lovely high-backed seats of the early Metroline early TA's (both decks) and LG's Palatine II/Arriva's DLA1-DLA41 (bottom deck) are long gone... Routes 415/417/432 DLA's (except DLA179/180) all have bench seats upstairs. Unfortunately, the bench seat's padding seems to have disappeared, last time I sat on one 417 DLA, it almost shattered my spine! Also, I've noticed some 'tubby' people see the bench seats as a single seat! ;D

The 3 track blinds that were on Arriva's ADLs were replaced around 2010 ish. Even when ADL61/3/4 returned to EC they had their track blinds already replaced.

I'm sure the MCW Metrobus went from yellow to pink to red front folding door!
Some MCW Metrobuses were modified to only have one door and used on excursions! One in particular was a red bus with just a large white border that went round the whole bus (as in around the middle bit where the front blind was.) this bus operated in service from SF and was seen on the 67 back in the day!
