The thing with 'via points' is that the bus your boarding may have already past it, or may be curtailing before it. So it can be misleading. In replacement they should have the route displayed inside the bus like the tube, I prefer that than having cartoons telling me what I should and should not do. We've had 'via points' since Mr Shillebeer!! It's bad enough with announcements at every pull off telling us where the bus is going to without more Disney gimmicks

Standard fluorescent tubes being replaced by LEDs - new buses since around mid-2010 come installed with LED blind lights, and some operators have also gone for LED interior lights since 2009. Some destinations becoming more vaguely named Double deck buses have generally become longer. Maybe there are generally less instances of single deck buses appearing on double deck routes?

The problem with that is that buses regularly get mixed about between garages if they have the same type as a result you might have the incorrect route displayed inside the bus.

Some destinations becoming more vaguely named 341 destination Angel Road Superstores rears it's ugly head again.... It's just an Ikea and a Tesco It's not even on Angel Road... I guess Glover Drive Superstores didn't sound much better....

Decreasing amount of luggage space at the front of the bus, although only the case with some bus types.

Via Points (give it five or six years, and they'll be gone) Tip up seats: Virtually extinct now, Only some unrefurbished DPSs and DPKs have them. Almost all Darts have two longituntial seats The DWL's on route 255 have tip-up seats too. The refurbished DWL's on the route such as DWL7 have retained them.

341 destination Angel Road Superstores rears it's ugly head again.... It's just an Ikea and a Tesco It's not even on Angel Road... I guess Glover Drive Superstores didn't sound much better.... Vague destination blinds are particularly irritating - I couldn't tell you where "Angel Road Superstores" was if my life depended on it. Another few examples I've noticed: *The destination "Brockley Rise" on the 172. Always seems to be a source of confusion, given it's not actually really in the Brockley area. There's about 15 minutes of route *after* Brockley Station. As someone who lives round there, the best way to describe it would be "Honor Oak Park" which is the name of the hill/road next to the terminus and the name of the station 3 mins up the road from there. P12 got "Honor Oak Park" blinds on contract renewal and it makes far more sense. *The turn "Charlton" on the 486. Obv. this one's for the station, but there's a large chunk of the route you could describe as Charlton. Works on the principle that it's usually best to assume the destination is near the station of the same name, but in the example above it's not the case! *The "Biggin Hill" blind when 246/320 get turned. Been dropped off at about 3 or 4 different stops with this one - and some passengers reckoned "Biggin Hill" meant it was doing the full route, while it actually meant we were getting dropped off at the airport. The same goes for 'Hayes & Harlington' with the 'Station' omitted. One of these days I'm gonna get on a 350 or U5 and ask the driver where abouts in Harlington the bus goes, just to see their reaction!

WVL 151 (only!) has the destination "Chelsea" in its blinds - used when on route 11. Now that could be anywhere from Sloane Square to three stops from Fulham Broadway terminus!

Going back to high backed seats - I could swear I saw an MPD on the H20 a couple of months ago with full high backed seats and an air con module on top. However, I did the rugby shuttles several times since then and I haven't seen it again. Was I imagining things?

Some of the seats are rock hard though and have caved in (so much for being refurbished last year ) . It did spend most of November out of service (according to LVF ) and have seen it broken down twice in the last year ;D (including blocking a junction on one occasion and making the 110/111/281 go on diversion )

I personally think bench seats have a issue where they can easily be broken as the cushion you sit on isn't fastened to the frame of the seat. I have noticed this on many buses with bench seats. Also they collect alot of dust i dont know if that is because of the thicker cushion. Any how I much prefer esteban civic V2/V3 seats tbh. I agree - bench seats are much easier to vandalise, some were just as uncomfortable as some of the worst individual seats. My personal favourite for comfort is the Lazerini Civic - well over a decade old, but still really comfortable.

I've seen many Esteban seats with the backs hanging off - in fact, I reckon the Urban90 is the only seat that could probably survive - could probably survive a nuclear war as well.

Even though this thread is about Disappearing features. An increasing feature. Is the amount of Stop buttons installed on buses! When I get on the new buses nowadays and sit upstairs a Bell is behind every single seat seat!!! One time it was only 5 and before that a String!!
