Something that has certainly crept under my radar is UK electric truck manufacturer Arrival are planning on launching an electric bus ... the previous news item was for an order of 10,000 vans for UPS, so must be doing something right. Wish the British based company every success with the venture. Looks a really good bus. Hopefully it gets some traction on the UK market, namely London.

Seems they released a new video yesterday youtu.be/hdv57x1Shhs

Wish the British based company every success with the venture. Although I know this is the genuine name of this manufacturer, I keep thinking the letter L at the end is a typo.

Now that the ULEZ SD routes have converted to electrics, are many additional routes tendered specifically on the basis of new electrics, or do operators just place electric bids if they want to introduce EVs at the relevant garages, especially in terms of DD routes?
While all new SDs need to be electric now, existing diesels are of course still compliant, or do any routes differ to this on retender?

So in the electric TfL bus market we have the following (please correct):
Optare MetroDecker EV BYD DD / Enviro 400 City EV BYD D9UR & D8UR / Enviro 200 MMC EV e.City Gold Optare Metrocity EV
Will there be a Volvo Electric double deckers and single deckers? Will MCV create a electric double deckers and single deckers? Will Wrightbus (or what’re they call themselves now) create an electric double deckers and single deckers?

MCV could offer their bodywork on someone else’s electric chassis I think Volvo are moving away from diesel and hybrid chassis for Europe, they are moving towards making electric buses (as complete buses, not a chassis), but have no plans to make electric double decker bus (they have launched a double deck coach though) Wrightbus seem to moving to hydrogen buses, they have been finishing some of the old orders from before administration. I think they have given up on electric buses, and stopped the Streetlite There is also the 5 BYD double decks, formerly used by Metroline, that are returning to London

That was widely reported to be in development for 2021 but seems to have gone quiet.
Could add the Yutong E10 to the list of electric vehicles that could potentially be used in London.

Does the 7900 have an option for TfL? It can be dual door but seems the only length is 12m which not many routes would fit Imagine a 12m bus would fit around virtually all routes operated by 10.8m vehicles.

There was also the demonstrator that was used on the 360 briefly (WES1) - though a single decker, this was built on the Streetdeck chassis, so I assume Wright had planned a DD version of the StreetAir as well. Regarding the 7900, unless Volvo make this available at a shorter length, perhaps a version of its chassis could be combines with the MCV Evora. The Evora is available at around 10.8m so could be used for a lot of London routes, and Volvo are already confirmed to be introducing an electric DD with MCV.

I dont understand why most routes capable of taking a 10.8m vehicle could not take a 12m vehicle. 12m vehicles are common in the UK, and can not think of reason that makes London unable to operate them ... it is not like the 10.8m are on a lightweight chassis like the diesel 10.8m vehicles creating fuel savings. I was, and still am hoping, that with electric vehicles and the return of the heavyweight chassis, full size single decks will make a return to the streets of London.
