Be interesting to see if there are any zero emission bus grants

Be interesting to see if there are any zero emission bus grants I wouldn't be surprised, money for the Green Bus Fund has been announced in previous spending rounds and it's a quick win for the Government. We may get an announcement about the "all-electric bus town" for which bids were invited earlier this year. I asked my local authority (Torbay) if they would consider bidding and got a surprisingly detailed and well-informed reply as to why it was not a suitable bid for them.

Be interesting to see if there are any zero emission bus grants www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/nov/17/boris-johnson-announces-10-point-green-plan-with-250000-jobsKey pointers from this - 250,000 new jobs - Ban on combustion engine sales by 2030 - Pledge to power every UK home by wind power - £525M put towards nuclear plant research based on small reactors that are more advanced - £1Bn worth of funds to insulate homes next year - £200M invested in Carbon Capture initiatives - Support for green energy in aviation and maritime. £20M committed towards the Maritime sector - 30,000 hectares of new trees planted every year - Moves to promote public transport, cycling and walking - London is going to be made the Global Centre of Green finance The second to last point is what will concern us on here I imagine. Nothing too special in terms of public transport apart from the promotion of public transport, cycling and walking. Not quite sure how they're going to do that and make it effective

Not quite sure how they're going to do that and make it effective The North won't like London be made the centre of something else especially as the Tories had already stated that London was to get very little, if anything at all. As for public transport, no surprised to see little detail about it - seems to be a trait of this government

Is there TfL spec for the Optare Versa? As it comes as an electric variant, it would be quite interesting to have them!

Electric bus thrash videos on YouTube won't be much fun If they can provide the infrastructure and improve range and charging time, this will be a great idea. It's a shame some electric cars are fugly

It’s great that two of the routes I use the most are going electric namely routes 49 and 319 next year. I haven’t been on an electric double decker before so I am excited to ride them when I get the chance. With route 319 confirmed to get E400EVs and route 49 highly likely to get those vehicles (going by RATP’s past electric orders) it seems like my future bus journeys will be dominated by those buses. I might take a ride on Tower Transit’s newest gain route C3 when it’s all of its new Metrodecker EVs enter service for comparison purposes.

I have to say, it would be great in London, especially with all that technology and the full low floor.

Something that has certainly crept under my radar is UK electric truck manufacturer Arrival are planning on launching an electric bus ... the previous news item was for an order of 10,000 vans for UPS, so must be doing something right. Wish the British based company every success with the venture.

They don't make buses do they? The posts you've quoted literally tell you that they do (or at least are developing one-think there's a video of one being tested at Millbrook)🤦
