Without the other deductions that would be £400 a week after deductions which isn't bad. Works out to just over £13 an hour. But a London bus driver should be on £15 an hour. Gross pay on 40 hours works out at £27k. A good promotion path might be revenue inspector as they get ~35k for 35 hours work. Not any more they don't. Revenue Protection Inspector's have new pay rates for new entrant staff in region of 31k building up to 36k over 5 years.

£13 per hour, I believe is a fair rate, but, there should be extra for sat/sun/lates.

You can have many new drivers as you like, they are not automatically the finished article. We recently had 4 new drivers start at our garage. Three had accidents in the first fortnight. To do the job correctly, all aspects of the job is quite a task. The unions should be calling the shots a lot more then they do. The stike last year over the Olympic Games should tell us enough.

That raises an interesting question, should an RPI get more than a bus driver? Let the debate begin............................ In my industry drivers earn more than most other grades including RPIs. So it should be with buses.
