So now West Ham have secured the Olympic standard do you think Upton Park garage will be sold off ?
I can’t help but think this was a master stroke of Stagecoach holding out until the future of West Ham was known. I bet a developer would snap up the land!
Any thoughts?

Selling off the garage brings in some cash they might need funds if they plan to buy up First Capital's depots (either Dagenham or Lea Interchange) in the near future What was First London's Hanwell Garage is now a Lidl, so I guess a developer could move in and buy it. 100% this was a key reason why the garage was closed, it was just handy that the massive new West Ham garage is so close. Stagecoach knew that the West Ham Olympic Stadium deal would go ahead (there was never any other realistic alternative) despite the fact that the whole process has been a predictable shambles. I am saddened to see the end of this historic garage and as a regular attendant at West Ham FC bemoan the loss of a historic ground in favour of a new but bland, uninspiring and not-designed-for-football stadium. Progress :-( Unhappy Hammer.

I used to go with my Dad years ago With Stratford there's better train links and more parking. I still don't know why Spurs aren't making more parking spaces for their fans, and it's a free-for-all in every street in Bruce Grove instead

Whereas, West Ham has more of a chance then Spuds do... ;D #COYG

BBC local news has just said that the Upton Park ground (not garage) will be redeveloped as a retail park plus 350 affordable homes. I think this is in line with the local "development plan" set by Newham Council.

Population continues to grow and if more homes arent developed it means lack of housing and potential house price increases, and that would have an impact on our economy mess we are currently suffering from. It would be good though as you tried to suggest to retain some historical features that come from the Boleyn ground.

I agree, the housing problem's not going to go away, better we use brownfield land than constantly expanding into the countryside.

Although if you look at the statistics were already doing better then Spuds plus were not classed as a one man team no more unlike Tottenham.

Isn't there some sort of 'claw back' arrangement or something that means TfL will have the final say and presumably any profits? I agree with others about a bland football stadium at Stratford but thats another issue.
