Perhaps the driver will need the phone number of Chris Huhne's Lawyer So that's what disrupted the trains yesterday - that's Greater Anglia's main line he crashed into - I was fixing something at Seven Kings and heard about the delays to the service. When you say 'the driver walked off long later', he didn't disappear from the scene, did he You'd think a Chelmsford operator would know the local streets in Chelmsford to avoid, wouldn't you? Plus the Overall Height is clearly displayed in the cab. You had a lucky escape mate - puts my carbon monoxide poisoning by DLA231's broke exhaust into perspective He must have been going some when he hit the bridge Well I'm not too sure, I could not find him 15 mins after this happened and other people were saying he just walked off Trains were delayed for about 20 mins, The bridge was fine after being checked over by Network Rail within 10 mins of the bridge strike That just sums up the company, I have never heard a good word about Regal Busways, They are cheap, cut corners (Well a roof in this case) and have very poorly maintained buses, I have always heard bad things about the running of this route (3) that they cut buses off it, and it frequently runs late which it was today 25 late when we hit There are routes in London (ie 197) that go right up to a low bridge before turning. The London overground rail replacement from stratford when it's doing all stations, There is a bridge which you become meters from in the hackney wick area Glad you're OK - that looks nasty I'm fine, as soon as I got off the bus I was taking pictures, Yes I was a bit shaken at the time but I am fine now Thanks Glad you came out in one piece and unharmed DN33501. Where you the only one upstairs prior to coming down? The driver is so lucky he didn't kill anyone, though I use the word 'lucky' loosely seeing as he was unlucky in causing the problem in the first place. I was the only person upstairs the whole route, if anyone else was and did not see the bridge there was almost no change they would have made it, I came down at the last few seconds and was midway down when we hit the bridge

There are routes in London (ie 197) that go right up to a low bridge before turning. Also at Finsbury Park (routes 210, W3 & W7) and South Croydon (routes 403 & 412)

A close shave!

there's a low bridge in ennersdale road, hither green that rail replacement buses turn right just meters before. Still didn't stop one of my former colleagues wedging WVL354 under it last year! Fortunately he stopped and only damaged the front 'dome' area and first meter or two of the roof!! Bus is back on the road now thanks to the guys at NX accident centre who fixed it up.

It is very dangerous and he should of been paying attention he is lucky really no one was on the top deck , he really could of been facing some serious charges ! but saying that we have all done it when you walk somewhere or drive somewhere and you just go into auto pilot mode and before you no it your there but that is no excuse if your in charge of a passenger carrying vehicle you need to be aware and alert at all times !! How did the driver react directly after he done it or realised what he had done it ?

I was still sitting up stairs until seconds before we hit when I realized, I was midway down the stairs when it hit the bridge I don't know what the driver thought he had done but he kept on going and parked it perfectly for pictures in the bus station DD's should never have been on that route full stop, There are 2 Low bridges on that route including this one, I have no idea why that bus was out on that route. The only reason I got on it was because a Double Deck

Don't know who the operators were, it came out later one driver used his satnav! Bearing in mind there are signs either side of the actual bridge which must be at least a meter in diameter, maybe the "drivers" should go to Specsavers!!
