First off, the 24 only had 5 VWH's (Volvo B5LH's) and all the 24's buses have plans. Secondly, it's hardly Metroline's fault when these buses were ordered by TfL & not Metroline. In fact, Metroline should be commended for trying to run the 24 as best as possible with these troublesome vehicles.

I remember looking in a Yahoo group on the NBFL, Centercomm advised the Metroline drivers to turn the saloon lights off during the day... So overall its TFL's fault. I hope the issue with the air con is fixed. But the prototypes had theirs fixed last year.

It's debatable that the prototypes had theirs fixed - I was on LT5 after it had been back to Wrightbus to fix them and it still wern't working.

If air con cannot work on the buses then why install it?

As I've already said in another thread, as the windows don't open and the air con is the only way of keeping the temperature down, as it isn't working the bus shouldn't be out until its fixed.

I seem to remember when FRM1 came into service, it had non opening windows and a rudimentary heating system. How long I wonder before all these buses go back to N.I. for windows to be fitted which open?

I use the term "waste" is because they should have used common sence and rolled out the production buses with window openings. I just dont want the first set of NBFL's to be like Ovenmasters.

Ovenmasters could take over from FreeBus for their new nickname Aside from the aircon being noisy, I've not seen any fault with it so far... surely ventilation is set by the driver for the whole vehicle before they leave the garage?

I hate this problem on all buses, where the air con is on but the windows open. The coolest buses I have been on have A) a working air conditioner and B) Closed Windows. They should just fix the air con on the NB4L's.

Where about its the vents which enters the air into the bus to condition the saloon of the vehicle. But if money is being spent to have window opennings installed for the NBFL then how can it be a waste? I think the windows are partly structural (in the sence that they add stiffness) to the bodyshell. Adding opening windows will mean strengthening the frames and that will add weight (well above the centre of gravity). Its already overweight so capacity had to be reduced from 87 to 80. More realistically got to sort out the a/c, it works on the buses Wrightbus build for Hong Kong so it suggests either a gassing problem or inferior compressors etc were used on this model.
