TfL are consulting on a proposal to allow passengers to travel to / from a new stop at Rookwood Road (Stamford Hill garage) rather than booting people off on the main road as now. Consultation Link

About time something happened. I thought this one had died the death. Due to the long overdue nature of these changes, I remain skeptical about the 'end of the month' completion of works. I may have a stroll along Egerton Road one of these days, just to put my skepticism to rest and see what LBH have done. Then over to TfL to see what they say...

I may have a stroll along Egerton Road one of these days, just to put my skepticism to rest and see what LBH have done. Then over to TfL to see what they say... Ok TfL its all on you now, LBH have pretty much completed the infrastructure works ahead of the date given in the FOI. I checked out Rockwood Road yesterday and all that is required is the bus flags (location have been marked on the ground) and removal of the Notherly facing bus stand (unless this is being retained). Personally, i think the 318 and 349 should share the same first stop and could even share stand space, not sure why they'd need different starting points. ADD.: After reading the consultation report i can see why the scheme has been so delayed. To many councillors kicking up a fuss over parking spaces and bus movements. Maybe it's just me but I think if you read between the lines, the problem is less to do with the 318 and 349 but more to do with Stamford Hill Bus garage and the fact that it encourages bus activity in the area. I can't believe the amount of corruption that went on to turn and disturb the scheme, 26 photocopied response, shameful. I was taken by surprise the width of Rockwood Road, which explains the concerns for pedestrians, however how instead of saying the road should be narrowed, it seemed more sensible for certain councillors to say ' considerably increase bus congestion' for the area. After all this I am just glad to see the extension going ahead as that walk along Egerton Road is long!

Shock horror but LondonBusRoutes.net are showing the 318 as serving Rockwood Road at Stamford Hill as from 19 March 2016. He even has the updated timetable. Nothing yet showing for the 349.
EDIT - Unfortunately the revised route for the 318 allegedly from 19/3/16 has not been reflected in Countdown so I doubt it's going ahead as there are new stops that should be showing up.

"we have been unable to locate any correspondence between TfL and LBH" - what a load of abject nonsense. So how did they communicate? Using psychic powers? Only by telephone? Carrier pidgeon? I simply refuse to believe there were no letters or E Mails between the parties or meetings with written minutes. Nice to get a confirmed date at long last but those answers show a system under strain because there are not enough resources or someone isn't the managing the process properly.

Plus many parking spaces within the streets are taken up by bus drivers from Stamford Hill garage.

There is now no loss of parking spaces at all. The scheme has been reviewed three times to try to shut up the local Tory councillors. Those Tory councillors who submitted contradictory and photocopied responses to the consultation. The whole thing is outrageous when the locals who did respond were broadly in favour of the scheme as they would benefit from it. Judging from the councillors surnames I would say they are Jewish (happy to be corrected) and yet it's hard to detect quite who they are representing. From my limited use of the 318 and 349 in the Stamford Hill area the local Jewish community use the buses extensively - the PDL on the 318 was stacked full of young Jewish mums and buggies who all alighted on the side roads near Stamford Hill. I imagine there will be more of the same when the Rockwood Road stand comes into use.

The other surrounding roads were in favour.

The 318 timetable was updated back in March but TfL didn't implement the extended route to the public. I'd guess the 318 is working to the new schedule but is still kicking people off at Egerton Road.

I'd guess the 318 is working to the new schedule but is still kicking people off at Egerton Road. Ahhh. Thank you for the clarification. I'm just hoping this all comes together on the 9th. Well Countdown appears to be updated to reflect the change but each route has been done differently (sigh). The 318 doesn't have a stop listed at Rookwood Road but the blue line depicting the route shows the new working both ways. The 318 already serves Stamford Hill Broadway. The 349 *does* have Rookwood Road showing and also shows the stop on Stamford Hill Broadway to give a common stop with the 253/4. Another oddity is that the n/b stop at Angel Road (stop H) appears to be out of use for the 349 but in use for the 149. The 259 and 279 are not listed either. If that stop is being closed then that's going to annoy the legions of people who change from e-w routes to n/b services. The "round the corner" routes 102, 144 and 491 are also not listed. Perhaps I'm out of date and this change has already happened but looks like another retrograde step for passengers forced to change buses.
