I've seen a lot of drivers having the assault screen open on the routes out of WS over the last few months. I was surprised to see a young female driver on the 350 the other day driving with it open as much as possible. I suppose your not gonna get many people cutting up rough on such routes as the 350, U7 & U9 though. As RM5chris says, it seems to make passengers realise there is a person behind the screen. I would also of thought that it would help increase ventilation for the driver to feel more comfortable whilst driving during the hotter summer months.

When the 345 was still LDP operated from London General (SW) and London Central (Q/PM/NX), Stockwell's buses had their vandal screen fixed shut whereas the other three depots were able to be opened. This was due to different union rules and regulations.

I find suburban routes far nicer, people are nicer and more polite. Must admit, Ive never felt in danger when driving a bus.
The problem with assult screens and driver doors are that the drivers will drive buses with faulty ones.

Got no come backs.
