After a dash across London on 3 buses I tracked down London Central V6 today. It certainly sounds rather different to just about anything else on the road. I took some photos of the bus and the interior. It certainly seems to have a reasonable turn of speed and acceleration but it's hard to be completely certain as Central London conditions tend to limit opportunities for speed. The seats are a bit uncomfortable and the aisle by the back seats is a tad on the tight side. The narrow windows upstairs actually don't seem too bad at all - certainly not as dingy upstairs as a NB4L. Now I want to know who was sat at the back downstairs taking a video on their phone - grey hoody, spiky fair hair - on a southbound journey from Oxford Circus not long after 1500. Confessions please Umpteen people snapped it on Whitehall too.

have to admit not a fan off the back but apart from that and the upper windows to me it just looks like a b9tl/b5lh

I went on it today, took a few photos (and did sorta do a peace sign to one of the photographers on the ground, so if you see me on the upper deck, at around 1700hrs taken time, that's me), and also realised that the upper deck is kinda cramped looking. But the main interior thing - the upper deck flooring still has the protective plastic on it! The back, tbh, has more black than red, and yet buses are supposed to have nearly 100% red nowadays!

Well it is a demonstrator so is not to full London spec so there are various things which are not 100% TfL compliant. I'm glad to have a bit of relief in the colour scheme. This obsession with slapping red paint everywhere without relief is daft anyway. Red only looks decent when it is brand new and shiny. Once the paintwork is dulled by dirt, weather and repeated cleaning it can look awful. I was pondering the other day what the NB4Ls will look like in a few months once all the shine was worn off. I fear they will not be an attractive prospect - like so many London buses when the paintwork gets tired.

You've certainly got the "keep the phone very steady when recording a video" technique off pat.

LOL, thanks, I try to do my best - I wasn't sure though if you liked my stance of jumping into your seat whilst your getting off lol. Well, you know who to look out for now, your welcome to say 'Hi.........as long as I'm not filming lol.

Slightly off topic but wonder if in future B9TLs can be retrofitted with the euro6 engine that this bus has. The engine bay of the B9TL may be big enough to house all the relevant components.

Personally I think the B5TL is a great step forward for volvo as I wasn't overally a fan of the b9tls huge engine when I know volvo can get the same if not more power from smaller engines. Tbh the bus sounds like a euro 4 b9tl some what I was expecting it to sound similar to a b5lh. Overall i like the vehicle the back has grown on e somewhat but there is too much black on the back.

They just have to adjust those wide seats, which block the upstairs gangway.other than that, its a smooth ride. expect GA, to buy these buses in abundance!

Saw this for the first time in the flesh running out of service in Camberwell Green yesterday, Must admit it just doesn't look right looks like its been deroofed at some point and been repaired using an original Routemaster roof.

Anyone know what has happened to V6? Seems to have vanished from service according to LVF? I couldn't see any news about it in recent TLBs for Go Ahead fleet info.
