I let you all read this DAILY MAIL!!! lol I think the boss of GHA Coaches needs to be reminded about the law of the land. People are perfectly entitled to take photos of whoever and whatever in a public place. I really couldn't care less if his drivers "don't like being photographed". I trust they never go anywhere where there are CCTV cameras if they're such shy, sensitive flowers. I have plenty of snaps of drivers acting like complete *&***$*)£ - how you can drive as a professional with a laminated timecard held directly in front of your eyes I really do not know. Perhaps First Berkshire bus drivers in Slough have x-ray vision? The managers of bus companies should take a leaf out of the book of staff conduct from Stagecoach Busways who issued clear and concise instructions about bus photographers, what they were entitled to do and how staff should conduct themselves. It really is an absolute no brainer about how to manage this.

Bus perverts??? LOL what a phrase to use. Only Daily Fail could make that up! They didn't make it up. It was a quote from one of the enthusiasts about what he had been called by bus drivers. I can quite believe it happened given some drivers resort to language that is more like the script to Pulp Fiction. The Mail has, of course, chosen to give it prominence but what do you expect from the tabloid press? I also fail to see the relevance of mentioning that one of the men is not working - is that remotely important to the story other than allowing "foam at the mouth" Mail readers to feel somehow superior?

No surprise this came from the Daily Fail, the same paper that thinks a diary written by a person who was 17 at the time constitutes to them hating Britain.

What is it, the drivers flipping up the bird? I do not accept that Daily Mail calls them drivers 'perverts'! I believe its insulting to the drivers. But to the drivers flipping up the bird, its pretty tough about privacy, but I will be willing to blur their faces off because they do not like their faces being taken in a public place. But I do not like my photo taken as well so its pretty tough because if im out in the public place I have to take pictures. Would the people complain about CCTV recording them as photographers gets insulted for taking a picture of them without their 'permission' as the photographer is actually aiming at the bus instead of the driver!!! I also found the link to the guys flickr page containing the same photo of the Arriva bus. flic.kr/p/gdvh5u

Off all my time taking photos of buses I've never had any rude gestures spawn at me even when I've been taking photos outside of London and in Ireland. I guess I'm just lucky.

I actually had a few drivers over the years asking me if I could send them a copy of the photo I had just taken which I would quite happily do. Shows how much times have now changed.

The GHA boss should actually be sacked for hinting that it's fine for drivers to do obscene gestures regardless of whether the enthusiasts were a nuisance or not which I'd guess weren't a nuisance. If I was to make an obscene gesture at my workplace, Iceland, I'd be out of a job so it shouldn't be any difference. If you don't want your picture taken, don't work in public!!!

Have times really changed? In my experience the vast majority of drivers are not bothered in the least, some give a friendly wave/smile and a very small minority act like complete morons. Reporting such incidents to their employer and/or the police is the obvious answer.

And there's me thinking they were doing bus photographers a favour by highlighting this apparent problem, not that I've experienced it. But hey...........don't let the facts get in the way of your bitter vitriol eh?

The comments let alone that people post on there are just shocking and stupid that's why they get lots of red arrows.

And there's me thinking they were doing bus photographers a favour by highlighting this apparent problem, not that I've experienced it. But hey...........don't let the facts get in the way of your bitter vitriol eh? Why does the report do the photographers a favour? Whenever these reports appear in one of the "red top" papers there is always a subtle undertone that people who take photos of buses (or trains) are bonkers / loonies / deserving of mental health attention regardless of whatever "we do no harm" remarks are made by the photographers themselves. The Mail, of course, played to their personal gallery of "we hate skivers and dole wallahs" by mentioning in passing the fact the guys are not employed. Cue loads of "how dare my taxes pay for this lazy B*ggers". Good old Daily Mail - no mention, of course, as to how the guys do finance their hobby. I actually don't think these articles help at all - very rarely is there any benefit in raising personal concerns like this to the press and certainly not in the era of online comments which just invite ridicule from people with too much time on their hands and too little grey matter between their ears. The fundamental problem, on the assumption that the photographers act legally at all times, is the lack of proper bus company management attention to this issue and ensuring bus drivers are properly briefed and, if they breach clear company rules, appropriately disciplined. You only need to see how much enduring goodwill there is for operators who get this stuff right e.g. Ensignbus and also how much money they get in their banks when they do special running days or hold open days. People travel from all over the country to take part and buy rover tickets. The "normal" general public also seem to enjoy these days too - plenty of non enthusiasts enjoyed the Metrobus open days from what I saw. I can tell you that GHA Coaches, referred to in the article, have gone down in my estimation even though I've snapped their buses in Chester without any adverse reaction. Why would I want to give any money, by way of bus fares, to a company that condones bad behaviour by their drivers? What other aspects of sloppy behaviour does the company condone?
