Since theres no discussion about it. I think i post it here because its the first time in ages that the south of England have hurricane type winds. But the rail services are disrupted because of the winds which will make an impact that the workers that travels to Central London might end up taking the day off because of it... But i have been tweeted that the Brighton Buses will be operating with single deckers only... www.nydailynews.com/hurricane-sandy-year-displaced-families-article-1.1493267Well, I don't know what i have to say about it because i wasn't around with the 1987 storm. But Its going to be my first time facing the strong winds into Britain. I also believe that the LU services are not much distupted because most of it is underground. But I don't want a massive disaster where trouble comes where everyone is looting... But i just want to get it over with in a peaceful manner. small update, @tflbusalerts gave me a response on Twitter that the buses are due to be diverted and delays due to blockage of fallen trees... So at least the bus system in London is still going.

The Victoria Line should in theory have a perfect service as it is the only tube line that is fully underground, barring the train depot and the two stop Waterloo and City Line.

I have two things to say about this storm, 1. I'm glad I'm not working today, when you go over Vauxhall or Waterloo bridge and you get a gust of wind, it keeps you on your toes!! Second I have a chainsaw, bow saw and axe so if anyone has any fallen trees I'm fully equipped to deal with them.

Only routes affected so far are routes 21, 34, 53, 69, 72, 85, 93, 97, 124, 130, 172, 215, 241, 262, 352, 357, 440, 453, 465, 466, 470, 473, R3, S4 & U4. I expect the 412 to be added to that list as some point.
All 50's are running short to Clapham Park/ Clapham Common, maybe somethings happened there.

I heard that the storm is going to be worse around the early hours of the morning I'm now awake and its heavy winds now... The Victoria Line should in theory have a perfect service as it is the only tube line that is fully underground, barring the train depot and the two stop Waterloo and City Line. Yes indeed, but they will be overcrowded because of rail disruption... I have two things to say about this storm, 1. And Thirdly, glad it's half term because the kids don't have to go to school in that weather. Quite a relief for parents and kids as well. I am watching the live Trafalgar Square webcam from this link... People are walking through the wind like a boss!

A tree has fallen down on a bus beside Turnpike Lane Station thus blocking services on the High Road. There is a photo on Twitter - impossible to say if the bus has sustained any damage.
Based on the list in a previous post I'd add in the 275 and W11 as affected by the tree down in Hoe St, E17. Buses affected by the diversion are running via Forest Rd and then the 212 route over Church Hill back down to Hoe St.

A crane on the roof of the Cabinet Office has ensured no buses going down Whitehall : 53 cut back to Parliament Square.
There was an earlier tree down on the A2 which was doing interesting things to the 132 service.

There's also a pic on the Daily Mail website. Bus involved is Arriva DW511, and it has suffered roof damage : nothing that doesn't look repairable though, IMO.

That is if the train operators can get to the depots to book on many of my colleagues travel in by national rail if they can't get in to work trains will be cancelled

I was impressed by Southeastern today at least they ran most of their services with a temporary timetable. FCC however not happy at all.
My Southeastern train driver kept apologizing for the packed trains/reduced timetable in which he stated staff were scattered about. That was the main reason lack of drivers.

Took a fellow trainee (thanks to Southern and FCC), 5 hours to East Croydon to Crawley Depot this morning , not helped by a fallen tree on the A25 near Merstham.

One of the halls of residence buildings in my uni suffered minor damage to the roof, the building next to mine as well . While there was a loose sign nearby that came off in the wind, (only ended up in that condition in the last few days while Newham Council were widening the road slightly : . At one point the wind picked it up but luckily it came to a rest less than 2 metres away and got stuck under the plastic fencing that had fallen down . Apart from that nothing much happened, the sun even came out for a significant part of the day
