Can't wait for TFL to announce 188 being converted to NB4L but that's if it's ever going to be considered an NB4L route.

Can't wait for TFL to announce 188 being converted to NB4L but that's if it's ever going to be considered an NB4L route. I hope it doesn't! It would be weird seeing Borismasters in Deptford/Bermondsey. But at the same time it would make Greenwich look more of an attractive spot for tourists.

The whole point of the NB4L is the hop-on hop-off rear end! If you just want them to be used in opo mode, then buy B5LHs/E40Hs/Streetdecks etc, which cost less both to develop and to buy. It makes more sense to put them on routes which will take full advantage of the NB4Ls rear platform, even if it is used by tourists alot (which the 148 is). As has been mentioned many times before the whole thing was nothing more than political grandstanding. Blind freddy (and several on this board including myself) foresaw many years ago that dual person operation wouldn't last due to the cost. As you rightly point out without a conductor there is no rear platform and without the rear platform you may as well buy other "off the shelf" buses.

Route 10 confirmed as receiving NB4Ls in the Spring. LT150 starts on route 9 and moves to the 10 when it converts. See bottom of TfL Press Release - link

So the 10 is being converted ahead of the 8, despite the latter being announced first... or is it that the 8 will change upon contract renewal?

So the 10 is being converted ahead of the 8, despite the latter being announced first... or is it that the 8 will change upon contract renewal? The 8 was announced alongside the contract award so presumably will be done on the renewal. I agree - I can't see that the 8 will convert earlier than contract renewal and the possibility of an early conversion had never entered my head. As Snowman suggests on the London United thread it looks to me that London United have agreed a strategy to "clean out" their fleet and cope with tender wins through a quick series of NB4L conversions. It's quite telling to me that three routes will convert in relatively quick succession. The programme therefore looks like the 148, 10, 8 and then whatever route Arriva are recruiting staff for.

Knew it wouldn't take long for the 10 to go NB4L

I had a Feeling that the 10 Conversion was coming. If the 148 is upto LT147 and LT150 is for the 9 and 10. What about LT148 and LT149? WIll they also be part of the 10 batch?

The 38. (It was announced somewhere earlier in this thread) But has it been confirmed that the 38 is being converted? Could the advert have been for the existing Nbfl running on route 38? maybe the route is not converting fully!?

I'm staying calm for now. Hopefully there'll be conductors on the 10...
