It's about time the boroughs of Greenwich and/or Bexley got some LT action. Route 89 could be a good candidate. Mind you, the section between Bexleyheath and Slade Green may need to be replaced by another route such as route 486. I have visions of route 53 receiving LTs but being replaced between Woolwich and Plumstead by route 122 rerouted via Plumstead Common. I like that second idea.

Tbh I don't think TFL are that desperate for certain routes to use them now that they would make any route changes to suit them. Now they are happy for them on outer routes, the list is quite big for suitable routes.

The 205 seems to be seeing a partial allocation of LTs. Surely the route can't convert due to the potential new terminus of Parliament Hill Fields not being able to take them.

I will speak with a family member this afternoon and find out the reason for the LTs on the route. I have seen posts suggesting lots of E400Hs are off the road so that could be the only reason. Also don’t forget the central London consultation is mainly to play party politics so the 205 might stay as it is now.

I can see a situation where the 205 is simply restructured to run between Euston (59 stand) and Mile End with the 24 and 88 remaining the same as now and possibly the 214 cut to Kings X (476 stand). If that's the case then the 205 would probably only need 15 or so LTs and the E40Hs used elsewhere.

Possible candidate for conversion: 113
They should be able to run on the newly proposed 31 route as the 27 already serves Notting Hill - only barrier may be the turn by Brunel Estate however the LTs have not been route tested yet.
I don’t think the 113 should be converted when the route changes, the VMH’s are more than reliable and the 31 already uses them. No point when routes like the 207 could take them.

But the only part of the new 113 and 27 share is between Westbourne Grove and Notting Hill Gate after that the two routes have two different routings so can’t really compare the two routes.

I don't. A lot of people get on the 53 between Plumstead station and Woolwich who want to travel towards Central London. But far more people come off the 472 from Thamesmead and get on the 53. The Plumstead Common section has more to do with tradition than any current travel patterns

A lot of passengers from the Common area go as far as Elephant & Castle. What has the 472 got to do with it? Changing at Woolwich is just as easy as Plumstead station. The hopper fare wouldn't work if you make them change buses at Woolwich and a point after Deptford Bridge. The 53 and 122 are fine as they are.

I used to live near Plumstead Common Road, so yes, I have travelled on the 53 a whole lot. And I've observed what happens when an eastbound 53 at busy times arrives at Woolwich Arsenal. It takes forever while about 80% of the passengers fight their way off through one single door. LTs would be great because of the double exit doors. Most of those who disembark then go on to catch a bus towards Thamesmead, usually the 472.

It would actually be worse because the 53 would be sharing the stops with the 472. At least at the moment alighting from the 53 is into more space.
