Had a really rude 134 driver today while going to school Firstly he kicks my friend off the bus while he's tapping his oyster for CLEARING his throat btw he was wearing a mask and as he leaves the driver shouts at him saying "you bloody children" I still stay on the bus as we were about to be late and we were still at tufnell park. When we reach archway he gets really rude to school children and tells everyone to sit down or else the bus isn't moving the bus is packed btw and eventually he starts moving however: I don't understand why some drivers hate schoolchildren so much ofc there's an odd few who are complete bellends but the bus drivers were once kids and they probably were like this so idk why they're so rude

I do have a few stories but I don't think they're particularly suitable for the forum so I'll leave it there. I think one thing that this does show is that we were all kids once, we were all probably mischievous to various degrees and certainly would have been noisy in groups. I understand the frustration by others, but there's also a few that take it to extra levels. Like you don't need to call school children animals which happened to us once, really they will end up growing up and they will simply be replaced by the younger generation. However this stabbing culture is something that is really starting to worry me, they seem to think life is not a gift - they don't seem to care if they are stabbed and won't care if they go and stab someone else.

I don't hate children at all - in fact I've got 2 teenagers myself - but let's just say I doubt a lot of kids behave the same way at home that they do on the buses these days...
Driving the 180, it's the school down on Yarnton Way in Thamesmead that is usually the issue. I've had kids fighting with each other on my bus, throwing things at each other, jumping up and down upstairs, shouting making loads of noise, and just generally being a nuisance. I have on occasion just done a code red and got them all off my bus.
I'm not generalising at all, some kids out there are lovely, polite and respectful, but there's a large proportion out there that give school kids a bad name.

And it's no wonder some people avoid buses at school times including children who are well behaved. It wouldn't be so bad if the trouble makers had their free travel entitlement withdrawn.

I would certainly report him here if he's that bad... tfl.gov.uk/help-and-contact/contact-us-about-bus-staffWe can all have an off day but if that's his normal behaviour I think something needs to be done about it although I will say in fairness I've generally found DT drivers very good.

DT drivers are generally excellent. I think they have more than one enthusiast amongst their ranks, too. But I guess there’s always one... 🙄 (and he often shows up very early in the morning on the 229, unfortunately...)

Most people will go “surely not” but catching three 2012 E400s today was an absolute treat. Having moved to Ireland, all I get are very vanilla B5TLs with very slow takeoff speed from traffic lights and bus stops. (If they were B5LHs I wouldn’t complain!)
As such 10117, 10159 and 19870 on the 275 today felt like the first proper diesel buses I’ve been on since summer. 159 Woodford > Hoe Street. Running early, but not slowly. Pleasant ride sat at the front 117 Hoe St > Highams Park. One of the best drivers on the route, very lucky to have caught. Great whine on Forest Road from the Enviro, and thrash on the bridge over the A406 was very welcome. (Something a B5 will never achieve no matter the gradient....) 870 Highams Park > Woodford. New driver. Good ride, especially the assault up St Barnabas Rd on the uphill approach to Woodford Station. That’s been sorely missed.
Lesson of the day: don’t take Voith E400s for granted! 🤣

For the first time in a long while I had a few hours to kill, so I took the opportunity to ride a few routes around Bexley/Dartford. My first bus journeys of any sort since March.
233 Foots Cray to Eltham - SEN28. Squeaky interior on the near side. Very comfy seats.
132 to Bexley - E245. Smooth ride, sat downstairs at the back. The engine sounds great - growls and whines like a bus should. Took me back to 2006/2007 (I think) when the 204 gained brand new Enviro 400’s. Bus coasted it and felt like it had a lot more to give. Wish I had ridden this on the A102 section of the route.
492 to Bluewater - T330. Munches hills for breakfast, other than that an unremarkable journey. Seems like Arriva had a couple of new drivers on the route with a buddy sat at the front. Quite a few through passengers from Bexley to Mayfield Place, Crayford, Stone and Bluewater. Chastillion Road needs resurfacing.
96 to Bexleyheath - 15079. Great when new, but now cold, old and rattling, PD’s Scanias aren’t going to be around for much longer. Definitely doesn’t munch hills for breakfast, but a no-nonsense fast ride back to TfL territory.
229 to Bexley - T326. Typical DT T. Just like its sister, T330 pretty meh. Does exactly what its suppose to with little effort or fuss.
492 to Foots Cray - T330. This time no newbie driver. Cruised along the 40mph section like it was doing 20mph. Effortless.

Had to pop to Asda. I got a really good DLE (forgot to get the fleet number but arrived at Asda around 14:15 going to Tolworth) however the driver wasn't so great. Those DLE's can really fly down the A3!

Caught ADE40310 on the 85 to Putney Exchange Very nice bus, decently quick and with a smart interior. Wish this was the allocation over the VH's
