Sorry to hear this, as YouTube shows route with fantastic speed potential. Was actually thinking of grabbing this route actually, for the same reason and to also build my confidence travelling out of London again (news years resolution). Was it too early in day and also holiday? I also notice Metroline's website states they have an driver shortage esp for 84, although I wouldn't know how much this impact timetable. The 84 is full of nsl speeds and the driver barely got 40. It was midday. The only luck i guess is avoid with big companies and go with small independents since they usually have tighter runs and very fast drivers any time of the day I can vouch for this. Took Vectare's 13A a month ago and was a very enjoyable ride

- District Line to Victoria - Victoria Line to Brixton - 322 (YY15EYS) Brixton-Clapham Common. Nice quiet stretch of the 322, a welcome break given Brixton was heaving and making it very difficult to get snaps. - 345 (LJ09OLH) Clapham Common-Clapham Junction. These are showing their age but did get a bit of classic trident roar which is hard to come by in my area these days. - 295 (LK65EBA) Clapham Junction-Sands End. This one's gears sounded very worn out, perhaps in need of a refurbishment before its next assignment. - 306 (LK15CXH) Sands End-Hammermsith. Crazy that there's still so much more development happening in the Chelsea Harbour area. - 533 (LK09ENT) Hammersmith-Chalkers Corner (including the loop). First time round the loop in a while. Absolutely love flying down the A4 and over Chiswick Bridge. If you luck out with the right driver the 533 really is a joy to ride. And the bridge reopening to pedestrians means it isn't so rammed. - 190 (LK08FLE) Chalkers Corner-Richmond. The back doors sounded like they could do with some oil. Otherwise these ex-First golden oldies are in good nick. - 65 (YT59RXZ) Richmond-Kew.

Today ............... DXE30352 H37 Isleworth to St Margaret's SWR 455 classic traction to Kingston. Slopped around Kingston Cromwell Road & Wood Street photo'ing LT's on the 111 ..... these really are a tight fit into & out of Cromwell Road Bus Station, then an unashamed Scania fest into the Brook Street area until it got dark then......... caught SP40123 on the 65 back to Richmond Station where I spent an hour photographing in the dark with the Xmas lights above. Mainly to get SP40102 on the 65 and DLE30019 on the H37. I do like Scania's. Then by co-incidence caught DLE 30019 on the H37 going the other way back to Isleworth .................. A few hours kip then driving into work at midnight for a 12 hour shift at BH double bubble-rate before hot-footing back to my lovely wife in Somerset for a couple of days R&R. back at the end of the week ............... so final fling with the 235 DEL's, Need to do the 332 / 349 LT's, 135 Old Street, a 160/180 electric session, and the Barnes - Hammersmith stomp photo'ing the varied SD's on the way. Can't wait for the daylight to return ............. have a camera that takes great pictures in the dark but it's not the same.

Back in London from daaarkest Zummerset. My Bus Journey Yesterday............... LT990 from Isleworth to Gunnersbury on the 267 then LO 378 to Hackney Downs - quick stomp to Hackney Central and LO 710 to Chingford ....... the purpose being to get LT1, LT2 & LT3 on the 313 and of course more Scania's on the 97. Weather was frustratingly sunny up until 10am ish resulting in some poor shots and the traffic was busy too which never helps. Managed a couple of good shots of LT2, got clean-bowled by a 444 trying to photo LT4 and had to settle for some shots of it in the Bus Station and LT1 had been subbed out already @ 08:40 to go on to the 349 (I'd already decided earlier on Chingford over Edmonton cos they weren't on the 349 - JFT !) so a bit meah ! in respect of the LT chase but plenty of SCL Scania's to compensate and a nice shot of Ee1 (I do like a 1 shot) to compensate. Finally my journey to work was a ride on SCL 15044 on the 97 ALL the way to Stratford City - then MEC7 on the 108 to Devon's Road - then SCL 29203 on the 323 to Canning Town and DLR to Gallions Reach - walk to work - picking up a shot of VN36151 on the 262 on route.
My Bus Journey today............... H37 DXE 30352 Isleworth to St Margarets station ................ SWR 458515 to Vauxhall then dark and gloomy Victoria Line to 7 Sisters - LO 710 to Edmonton Green - again frustratingly sunny .......... managed to find a spot on the Broadway without too many shadows - not too many people and the nearside lane a left turn into ASDA so the passing buses were all "one lane over" and clear on the nearside đź‘Ťđź‘Ť ............ photo'd everything & anything on the 259, 279, 102, 149, 349, 491 etc .................. brilliantly LT5, LT3, & LT2 as consequtive 349's. Couldn't get to the ML TE's W8's at that spot but around 12;30 it finally clouded over so up to the Edmonton Green bus station - great session - lots of interesting stuff about so by around 2PM I's got LT5 etc going North again, AL SW2 & SW10 (Sorry - I like them - I'm a fan of the Underdog !), all the days' W8 TE's, AB 2550e on the 616, ML DE1331 & 1334 on the 491 which I'd not photographed (DE1318 to finish the whole DE lot now) and a lot of AL HV's & DW's . Finished off with a trip back on LT2 up top & Up front to South Tottingham Station and then a LO 710 to Gospel Oak & 378 to Richmond. Spent 1/2 hour outside the station in the gathering dark picking up a few RTP Scania's on the 65 and what I suspect will be the last photo's I take of ML DE's on the 190 (DE1000 & 1005 respectively) after today due to the 235 changeover potentially releasing it's DEL's to that route ........... so then DXE30352 (again) H37 back to Isleworth. Later on the way to work (Driving for N's) I will take a detour via the The 3 Fishes at Sunbury and get a few DEL's on the Stand and the Pub stop as a little tribute cos apart from a couple of small sessions (Brentford end & Hounslow Town centre) I've largely ignored them - just photographed them if they happen to be passing when I've been targeting other stuff - been more interested in recording the DM & DE substitutes on the 235.
Tomorrow (Very early doors) will be interested to see what's working the Poplar - Beckton DLR rail replacements ........... that's why I'm in the car over the weekend for sheer convienience sake).

A totally useless, and no doubt really boring post for you all, but through 2021, these were the bus routes I used most... 1st 229; 2nd 715; 3rd 89; 4th K3; 5th 466; 6th 422; 7th 132; 8th 281; 9th 269; 10th equal 96 and B12. Wasn’t that exciting? Going to try this again in 2022 and will see if it’s any different. Happy New Year bus forum! 🎉 What I did find interesting is that several of your top 10 are routes well outside your area. As I usually only ride London bus routes 3 times a year, with carefully selected routes to represent a change or rare operation, duplicates are very rare.

I reckon that on New Year's Day, the proportion of buses in service across the country that are London buses is higher than on any other day for the whole of the rest of the year!
This is because London have Sunday services, but even fewer buses elsewhere run on New Year's Day than on Boxing Day.

My first trip of the year takes me to Dalston for the New Cross branch of the East London Line
LT234 (67)- Lordship Lane to Forest Road (why do LTs always have the coolest wraps?) Overground- Dalston Junction to New Cross (Nice short ride) Had to re-top up at New Cross because I somehow forgot that this line does enter Zone 1 LT864 (21)- Marquis of Granby/Goldmsiths to London Bridge (was going to Old Street originally but saw a 141 come out of London Bridge Bus Station so decided to change there) HV82 (141)- London Bridge to Arcadian Gardens

My "Bus Journey" today Roused myself mid-morn after N shift, stomped up to Syon Lane and SWR 458505 to Barnes Bridge and did a route walk from there through Barnes & Castelnau to the South end of Hammersmith Bridge photo'ing the varied SD routes mainly for the out-going ML DE's on the 533 but mostly delighting in the GAL SOE's on the 485. Nice to take photo's in a place where you don't have to keep one eye out for reprobates ........... Dalston it is not. Pleasant walk over Hammersmith Bridge which remained standing despite the extra few pounds I'm carrying these days and photo'd various RTP DE's on the 72 at the North end. Then onto Hammersmith Lower BS for more 533's and the RTP DE which now pretty much monopolise the 218. Saw an number of TT OE's carrying new OME460x fleet numbers & some not. Then a walk out towards Chiswick on the 190 route photographing a few ML DE's but also DEL2264 at around 15:30. Then a ride on LT985 on the 267 up top & up front back to Isleworth as the rain started ............. enjoyable afternoon.

Polished off the remaining Woolwich routes I hadn’t yet travelled on today. 180 - had new electric 14165 on this route, first Stagecoach City EV I’ve had a journey on. Was a very very nice ride to Abbey Wood Station, the station there is looking fabulous too can’t wait for the Liz line to open. 286 - thankfully was E261 from the 291’s allocation and not a god awful StreetLite, mind you these batch of Es aren’t holding up too well either. Incredibly rattly and harsh ride. 386 - 🤮 380 - this route is an absolute hidden gem. I rode it all the way from Plumstead station to Lewisham. The bus was absolutely crush loaded up to Woolwich Arsenal where it was then pretty quiet all the way to Lewisham. I wasn’t particularly enthusiastic about this route as I just thought it was another boring residential route but it really isn’t. The residential areas it passes through are very interesting, especially the architecture. The way the driver was flinging the bus in and out of all the back streets was brilliant and the drivers are seriously skilled getting those long buses down half those tight streets. The 380 largely falls under the radar on this forum so it deserves some recognition here

I thought I would vary my route back from The National Archives yesterday, so added the R68 to my list of routes ridden. Smartly dressed driver and comfortable seats!
