Brilliant day on the buses today. Apart from a couple of G2’s, the buses I rode today must have had by far the youngest average age ever, every bus was just a few years old, and a lot of them only just a few months old
58 - 86181 LJ24ZNP[/u] This isn’t my first BZL DD, I went on one of the new Cambridge P&R ones last year and I remember not being too impressed with them. But this London one was exceptional. Much smoother than the Cambridge one I remember, quiet, very fast, very clear announcements but not too loud, great visibility, comfortable and modern. By a mile the best modern currently-in-production DDs around, Volvo and MCV have really smashed it out of the park with these buses. Either they’ve massively improved it since the first models for Cambridge, or they were much better than I remember. Cannot WAIT for two of my favourite routes - the 277 and D7 - to get these, along with the 243 and 341. Downside is these also look to have dodgy screens like the 276, the front screen on my bus was very flickery.
W11 - 67021 YJ24BHY and 67016 YJ73BXD[/u] And now to the other end of the scale, I was not impressed with these buses at all. Worst of which is the rock hard suspension on these. I was sat at the very back and going over the bumps was bordering painful in my back. Also the rear doors on these were incredibly slow leading to very long stop dwell times, I bet this really annoys the drivers. Both of them were like this so it’s probably been programmed like that. Also these buses are extremely loud for electric buses, and it’s not a nice motor noise either.
133 - 3079 LV24EWR[/u] I’m not a huge fan of the Electroliner it has to be said, but I like these TUK ones because of the nice interior than anything else, it’s definitely this batch of vehicles’ saving grace. Other than that I find it a very bland vehicle, and those d*mned small windows, I was sitting near the back of this bus. It’s extra noticeable on these with the high back seats, you can see very little when looking out to the opposite side of the bus. It’s this buses most fatal flaw and I hope Wrightbus don’t continue this when they bring out their new bodywork.
P5 - 1533 BV20GUK[/u] Wanted to do this route as thus far I’d only taken these Caetanos on the C10, and I’ve only previously done a very small section of this route. But I wasn’t missing much, incredibly boring route with really only council housing to look it. It’s incredibly slow, and very twisty and turny, took nearly 45 minutes just to E&C to Clapham North, and actually all the turns made me feel a bit ill by the end, first time that’s ever happened to me.
35 - Ee223 LG73FRD
131 - Ee215 LF24ZKH[/u] I was trying to track down the 200, but then this rolled in on the 131 and I haven’t done an Ee 131 yet, just a bog standard GAL Ee really, but very competent vehicles with a nice interior so I certainly won’t be complaining if the 131 ends up with yet another batch of these.
200 - WVL428 LX11FJD[/u] I’ve taken this vehicle 3 times on the D7, absolutely LOVE this batch of vehicles so made it a priority mission to track these down while at AL before they probably get withdrawn when the Me’s return. This bus really does prove that newer isn’t always better. GAL have really cared for these batch of buses, the air cooling mercifully worked far better than any bus so far throughout the day, and it still glided along effortlessly. The ordinary passenger would never guess these are now 13 years old now, and I will be so so sad to see these leave, these buses became synonymous with the D7 so it did feel strange to take this on the 200, but still a very enjoyable journey, and the 200 is a really good route too.
270 - 2034 SK20BAO
355 - SEe271 LG73FZY
77 - EH131 YW17JTV[/u] Absolutely loved these on the 115, so wanted to track one down out of SW. They’re still in pretty good condition considering the pummelling they’ve had on the 5 and 115, and the bus still flew. Unfortunately the air chiller was broken on this, it was extremely stuffy and not too pleasant, not bad when the bus was moving though and the air circulated through.
344 - 2608 SN18KKX
452 - VDW41004 BJ11DTU[/u] Another stonking brilliant G2 here, it’s been very well known that this famous ex-25 batch has been lavished with care over their lifetime and it really showed on this. It was as good as WVL428, the ex-25 batch and the ex-D7 batch are definitely the best and my favourite batch of G2’s in London. Took it all the way from Battersea up to NHG on this, didn’t really want to get off tbh. Again will really miss these when they go, brings back so many memories of when these ran on the 25 back in the day.
94 - BCE47172 LD72UGK[/u] Like most weekend 94’s packed to the rafters all the way to Marble Arch. Got lucky here and found the only 295-allocated high spec vehicle out of on the route today, and I really like these, especially the seats. They’re extremely comfortable and the seat is shaped so perfectly for your posture, definitely the bus seats ever made. Although it did a little weirdly feel out of place on the 94 tbf, it’s original LB69 batch have become synonymous with that route and it now weird to see any other vehicle on the 94 now. Oh and also the LED blinds looked like they had been programmed by a 5 year old 🙄
I also have to finish by saying (although I’m sorry I have to be critical for a moment) but the standards of driving by the TUK drivers are frankly appalling. Apart from the P5 where the Caetanoes have ISA, every TUK bus I went on today was being driven like an utter lunatic. Taking corners way too quickly, slowing down/braking way too harshly and massively exceeding speed limits. On the 133 Electroliner I had the driver couldn’t be bothered to pull into the bus stop and got us all to walk in the road in front of another bus with cyclists galore coming down the inside. How they don’t have more accidents I don’t know. It’s pretty disgraceful I can’t lie

Back from my day out today with me riding lots of routes all over London. R68:Kew Retail Park to Manor Circus (8847 - YX16NZV) Uneventful as I wasn't on for long, though I do enjoy a ride on an ex-C10 MMC.Went up to Manor Circus to ride a new R70 kite. R70:Manor Circus to Richmond Station (1728 - LV24VRN) I will never get bored of TUK future spec, far outstrips the GAL and ML examples.Fast and comfortable ride. 190: Richmond Station to Hammersmith Bus Station (VW1381 - LK62DRV) If there was an award for the bus with the most voith, this bus would win gold. Most of the 81 batch (VW1379-88 mainly) are like this, and anytime i find one of these buses, the runs I get a spectacular, and today was no different.Driver was outdoing themselves along Great Chertsey Road. 9: Hammersmith Bus Station to Hyde Park Corner (LT658 - LTZ1658) Loving the LTs at AH, and they've been running the 9 very well, great service with buses coming on time.Ride was pleasant and got to HPC hassle-free. 74:HPC to Baker Street Station (WHV122 - BV66VJN) Again, uneventful as I wasn't on for very long.Though I do like the WHVs at AF. 205:Baker Street Station to Liverpool Street (12335 - SN64OGH) Love the hybrids at BW, great run I got today. Will definitely be back. 135: Liverpool Street Station to Canary Wharf (13155 - LJ17WUA) Not much for me to comment, the driver was a snail, so I got off at Canary Wharf instead of Crossharbour. D8: Canary Wharf to Stratford (16985 - BV10WWN) Wanted to get a run on the older 58 batch to see how they fare along the Poplar - Bow Corridor.Pleased to say I was not disappointed, the driver was really putting their foot down, and didn't stop on the way to Stratford. Will be back on this route to do an e2e. 86: Stratford to Romford Station (82029 - LV73FFR) Electroliners are by far better than the BYD, must if they are better than the BZL, I hoped to find out later. But I did get a decent run, driver was good around Goodmayes (ofc, had to be here 😂) 247:Romford to Fullwell Cross (10146 - LX12DGU) Great E400 this was, and the views at Marks Gate were amazing, so to Busboy105, thanks for the request! 275: Fullwell Cross to Barkingside, Tesco (19847 - LX12CZA) Short journey to the Tesco as I wanted a bite to eat, so I went to buy a Tesco meal deal (Unjustly priced at £3.40 might I add, even at clubcard price!). Was going to do an e2e as I was heading to Walthamstow, but the next bus wasn't coming anytime soon, so went for a 128 instead 128: Barkingside Police Station to Gants Hill Station (10134 - LX12DFK) Not much to say here. Not that I can comment, as I was focusing on my overpriced meal deal. SL2:Gants Hill Station to Walthamstow Central (HA47 - LK66HBX) Could barely stay in my seat on this route, driver was pelting along Woodford Avenue. 58: Walthamstow Central to Romford Road (16996 - BN61MXK) Most Unfortunately I missed the BZL, so I couldn't determine if it was better than the electroliner. But I didn't mind getting this bus, I remember getting great run during its time in West London on the 266, and I'm pleased to see its still going strong in the east. 25: Woodgrange Road to Bank Stn / Poultry. (11359 - SK20AYO) Just wow, what a long route. It took around 90 mins just to get to Aldgate. Won't be going on this route again in a hurry. 133:Bank Stn / Poultry - Brixton Station (3098 - LV24VOC) Not much comment, I've already raved about the TUK electrics, but the bus got quite busy. 415: Brixton Station to Tulse Hill (2607 - SN18KKW) Was lucky to get this MMC, and it was like being on HA47 again. 196:Tulse Hill to Norwood Junction (2469 - SN64OET) Nice to see QB putting more hybrids on the route, but I wish more of its allocated batch saw the route.Driver was fine along the hills of South Norwood. 410:South Norwood Clock Tower to West Croydon bus station (SLS4 - LK66AMX) Regretted this instantly.I missed both the 75 and 157 so i had to make do with this abomination.Anyone wishing to go into Croydon should avoid the 410 at all costs unless ENS28 is out. SL7:West Croydon Bus Station to Hatton Cross (WVL486 - LJ61NWV) The frequency bump no doubt was beneficial. It took forever to get to Hatton Cross though. 482: Hatton Cross to Heathrow T5 (2014 - YX20OBV) Love the 482 batch of smart MMCs, and it was great round Heathrow. 490: Heathrow T5 to Pools on the Park (8841 - YY64YJZ) After a disastrous last attempt on the route previously, I decided to try again, and this time I wasn't disappointed.Absolutely flooring it around Heathrow and Hanworth, and no long driver change this time.Got this bus back into Richmond Station also to get the R68 home R68:Richmond Station to Kew, Retail Park (8180 - SN17MWD) Nice and normal run, as I always do on the R68.

Walk to PB Drive the 263 all day (VW1199 and VWH2138) Walk to Potters Bar, Park Avenue Catch DS54 on the 298 to Potters Bar Station, for my last ever trip on a SB operated 298. Many young bus enthusiasts out to film and take photos of it.
A sad end to an era

Onto my last three Rail companies now and today I started with Southeastern. Already done the Cannon Street/Victoria to Orpington lines and the Bromley North shuttle so that left me with the Dartford lines, the Hayes line and the Cannon Street circular, the latter is what I've done today.
HV231 (221)- Cline Road to North Finchley High Road Walked to North Finchley bus station after finding out there was a 25 minute wait for the SL10 BCE47154 (125)- North Finchley Bus Station to Finchley Central Station Walked to Finchley Central Station Northern line- Finchley Central to Bank Walked to Monument station District line- Monument to Cannon Street Southeastern- Cannon Street to Slade Green via Greenwich then back to Cannon Street via Bexleyheath LT727 (17)- Cannon Street Station/Bank Station to Swinton Street LT577 (259)- Swinton Street to Edmonton Green Bus Station (all Eddy Green daytime routes done end to end now. Finally able to cross off the 259) HV187 (102)- Edmonton Green Bus Station to Bounds Green Station Walked home but before I saw SE167 on the 299 unblinded of course. Then again to regular 299 users, just another day at the office
