Probably "cheap and vandal resistant" For comfort(that's the last thing they'll consider) RT/RM or 1938 tube stock. Took my grandson to Convent Garden yesterday pure nostalgia to sit on the 38 stock, didn't want to leave

No because it's up to the operators on what seats they order and I like to see variety - any seat can be improved with the right amount of padding. The Go-Ahead Enviro 400 seats, which are Rowan Telmacs, are fine - the only seats I've a problem with are Urban 90's.

I think there shouldn't be a standard type, but all Uncomfortable ones banned. I've found Lazzerinis & Esteban Civics the best types of Seating. The only thing I dislike about the Lazzerinis is vandals keep nicking the "smiles" at the back of the seats, other than that they are always comfortable, but I think they are a bit too low. Esteban Civics are great and slightly higher up. Urban 90s are not so bad, but I personally think the worst form of bus seating is on Omnicity's the newer ones have extra padding which are not so bad but all the older versions are awful. I'm not a fan of Putneys Gemini 2s, the seating is rock hard and uncomfortable on the upper decks. Worst Rowan Telmacs I think, most of them are quite comfortable. Esteban Frown Rear Seats mainly found on Arriva DWs, E400s and E200s are awful.

Esteban Civics, look modern and funky and in my opinion (subjective of course!)the most comfortable of all types on TfL work. After NBfL and TfL's steps towards all over red and roundels, perhaps it wouldn't be surprising to see a standardised colour and fittings scheme in the future.

Esteban Frown Rear Seats mainly found on Arriva DWs, E400s and E200s are awful. I agree, the Lazzerinis and Civics are the most comfortable, and the OVs at EB are the best, and I always try and sit on the seat just before the step up-the high-backed bit (but only the V2 versions, these have thick padding and not the V0 versions (found on VEs/VLEs/03 reg TAs/TLAs etc) are rubbish. The Rowan Telmacs are a mixed bunch, on the Metroline stock/B7TL WVLs they're okay, on some E400s they're not too bad but on some E400s (such as BXs) they're very hard. The worst are indeed the WVLs/WHVs at AF (the only redeeming feature for these is that both types have a smooth ride) The Ciclo (used on virtually everything bought by Arriva between 2007 and 2011, bar HVs; and London United between 2008 and 2010 bar the ADHs) are absolutely horrid although slowly but surely buses with this seating are being refurbished, so they're not too bad. There is also a type (I don't know its name but used mainly by First between 2001-2 and then used on the SELs for the 7, ADH1 and 2 have them and the first HVs for Arriva also have them) but they may look uncomfortable but are better than the similar-looking Urban 90 (if they've been padded recently, they're not bad) and are definitely better than Cicolos. And the worst seating is that of the 09 reg SPs at AV. That or the Olympuses used by TGM on KU services (does anyone know the details of the contract of the service?)

As someone with back trouble, I find it extremely strange why everyone hates Circlo seating - granted, they are not Lazzerinis or Esteban Civics but neither are they are as bad as Urban 90's. The Circlo gets an unwanted bad press.

Not sure what they're called but they're also on the newer Stadler trams on Tramlink (and quite well padded too). One seat style I rather liked was the Fainsa Punt (?), found on 04 reg Metroline VPs (pre refurb) and on LU's original SLEs for the 267.

I'm amazed that we have so many "bus seat" enthusiasts on the group. Although I can see seats look different I couldn't tell you the name of one type over another.

All I can say on seats is...
The ones on the Wright Gemini 2 (Go Ahead-London) (14, 22, 74) are rock hard!

Some of the refurb VPs at AC still have the fainsa Punts, I find them so comfortable.

I have to agree that the Fainsa Punta are the most comfortable. Lazzerini Practico are also very comfy, they just seem to hug your body. Urban 90 too, especially well padded ones like the ones on BN's VLAs. My least favourite is the Esteban Civic, very ugly and uncomfortable, it's a shame so many buses have them.
Also a big fan of the high backed seats such as the ones the cushioned seats you'd find on route 74's NVs (throughout the bus) and the S-reg DLAs (downstairs only), and the high back Lazzerini seats found on Metroline's early TAs (thoughout the bus) and the T-reg DLAs (downstairs only).

Yes, the Cosmic Punts (which some of them have the operator's logo on the 'join' between the back and bottom cushion). The EBs have them too. I also like the Fainsa too (the ones used on older LU/Metroline/Go Ahead double deckers, apart the ones on the rear two or three rows of the now erstwhile 52 reg VAs that AV had)
