96, 178, B15, B16, 229, 486, 161, 162, 163, 314, 185, 199, 202, 244, 428, 345. The 345 was a pain. Hate to imagine how the 345 drivers feel. The longest I've gone was Battersea High Street to Camberwell and it was painfully long

Was very much looking forward to doing my West London day trip today, had some very interesting trips. LJ18FJO | 70 YR10FGK | E1 YX16ODR | E5 LK11CWM | 95 YX58FPN | 487 YX15OWP | U5 SN09CGE | U4 SN17MSU | 350 YX68UNS | X140 LJ15LBL | 105 LK09ENW | 533 E1 - first time I’ve done it under RATP operation, and the SP was a treat too. Haven’t done a Scania for ages and it was a really nice refreshing change from the increasingly humdrum London bus world of ADL vehicles (not that I dislike them though, but it is monotonous) 95 - absolutely hate this route, nasty knackered 10yo E200s on a very grim route, but ended up on it purely to get where I needed to 487 - only did about 4 stops to Alperton Station U5 - quite an interesting route this one. The 15-reg MMCs on it are really starting to age now, the rattling on these early MMCs is terrible and Abellio seats really do start to look tatty after a few years of use. I really like Stockley Park, really interesting modern business park, the middle Yiewsley and West Drayton part is quite dry though. The driver did put her foot down thoughout so it made for a good journey and she was so polite to everyone getting on the bus. U4 - a bit meh tbh. Not much else to say other than that. The 09-plate ex-First E400s I had was a bit dull too. 350 - only did the last 6 stops to Hayes so can’t really say much for the route as a whole. X140 - took this to Heathrow and first journey under RATP. Really like the variety of buses used on this route although unsurprisingly this will come to and end soon. And really love the fast express nature of the route. Really like this route. 105 - oh dear what an absolute hot mess this route is. With the best will in the world RATPs operation of this route is pretty dire at best, but they’re definitely not fully to blame for this. I could only stick it to Southall station from Heathrow then I got off and gave up. The traffic conditions along this route are HORRENDOUS, no wonder RATP can’t operate it. It’s just an awful route that does doesn’t work in its current form imo, definitely not a route I have any desire to use again. 533 - have never taken this route yet so thought I’d give it a go on the way back to Central London. I didn’t know the bus didn’t stop at all from Hammersmith all the way to Mortlake but the traffic along the great west road really wasn’t great. After you get through that though the routing through Barnes is really really nice, I’ve always liked the 419’s route through Barnes parallel to the river and this is the route the 533 takes. Was pleasantly surprised by this route, despite the knackered horrid 09-Enviro I had the pleasure of doing that journey on

They are a great batch apart from 1143 which has started making a squealing noise. You're somewhat spot on about some of the E200s at AH being knackered, however they do have some nice examples including DE1587 which was great when it was at PB. I must say I really like the 1583-1588 batch.

Thing with classic E200s though is that no matter how good a condition they’re in mechanically every single one rattles into oblivion and that’s just it for me as far as that’s concerned. They’re absolutely exhausting to do long journeys on. The horrendous clattering, the shaking, the vibrations, just everything. I haven’t done a single e2e on a longer E200 route (only ones I have done are the 164, 209, 323 and 396, so short routes, even the slightly longer 164 was draining!). I couldn’t put myself through it. And talking about W’s E200’s in particular, their 08 plates certainly are not excellent!!!🤮

Thank god, the 324 & R1 are the only ones I have to re-visit (the 383, another revisit for me, at least has younger Euro VI models which are decent)

Routes I’ve done: 29,34,66,86,123,179 and the 444. I’ve also done the 141 up to Moorgate, the 169 from Ilford to Barking Station, the 102 from Golders Green to Palmers Green, The W3 from Finsbury Park to Wood Green, the 69 from Walthamstow Central to Plaistow and the 184 from High Barnet to Wood Green EDIT: did the 275 as well yesterday. Didn’t feel like a 59 minute route as it says on its timetable. I've recently done the 20, 121,141,221,257,312,329 and C10 Recently done the 7,19,219,299,A10 and H2. I only have a couple of stops left on the 266 but that route is so dry I might just leave it

Pfffft er the VH, but very much the choice of the least worst. As a whole I much prefer the MMC but the early MMCs (actually with the exception of the 109’s MMCs as they’re actually surprisingly good) are absolutely naff, but to ADL’s credit the quality issues have definitely improved with later MMCs. The one on the X140 was excellent. All G3’s are pretty naff as they’re lightweight and cheaply made, but the ex-285 VHs aren’t too bad, but really nothing to shout about.

I've recently done the 20, 121,141,221,257,312,329 and C10 Recently done the 7,19,219, A10 and H2. I only have a couple of stops left on the 266 but that route is so dry I might just leave it That’s a dry one true. I did it end to end from Brent Cross to Hammersmith when it used to run there - think I started questioning my intentions and motivations of doing e2es by the end of it (had to spend 30 min in a coffee shop at Hammersmith to wake up!) Nothing can beat the 2 hour 20 min journey from Oxford Circus to ilford on the 25 in peak time in the last week before it’s hack!

I did Ilford to Tottenham Court Road in 94 mins in Summer 2018. Was quite a slog, stopping at nearly every stop but amazingly quite surprised how quick the journey felt. I certainly can see how it was no longer viable thou from Oxo to Ilford. Even cutting to TCR would have made it more manageable and might just have attracted some end to end demand for people wanting to save money.

If I'm honest back in the 2000s the 25 should've been split into layered routes, perhaps a 25 between Ilford & Aldgate/St Paul's/Bank and a 425 between Stratford & Oxford Circus, however this would've meant we wouldn't have got the 205 out to East London and the 425 wouldn't have existed out to Clapton.
