One other one I forgot
Those Alexander AV bodied Volvo Ailsas at Potters Bar look horrible as well, not sure what they were thinking there.

I agree with tangy, the streetlite looks ugly, also so does the Gemini 2/3 and Streetdeck.

I think I would vote for the Mercedes minibuses put on the Gold Arrow services. They were wholly inadequate for the 28 and 31 and I gave up using those routes as I could not bare the overcrowding and lack of comfort. The Dart / Marshalls that followed were not much of an improvement. I felt sorry for anyone who had to endure those routes on a regular basis until common sense broke out and DDs were restored. Agreed, they were totally inadequate for the Gold Arrow Scheme, I think the MA's worked wonders at UX on the 'The U Line' network. Yes, the rear suspension was something else! but once, they got altered, I thought they were good little vehicles. They opened up a lot of streets, some very narrow! to a bus service for the very first time. I bet London Buses would never of thought that, 25 years later, some of these narrow streets now have a regular double deck service. Hopefully MA1, which I believe went to Tower Transit will end up being preserved, as per suggested on Leon Daniels blog. As for the worst looking bus body, thats gotta fall to Centrewest's Renault S75 Wright Nimbus RW class, hideous! Some more; As PVL371 said, the Greenway attempt on the Leyland National.. You can't beat the look of a National mk.1 with the pod! The Dennis Dart Wright Handybus - Whilst it didn't look that bad, it felt like you were sitting on a rocking horse when travelling on one! Some of the UX drivers even nicknamed them rocking horses. Some more recent examples include the Caetano Compass, the Solo SR - actually anything bodied by Optare! (except the Excel) and the Enviro400 - Compared to the Enviro200 with it's straight lined windows, the curved windows on the E400 just make it look so cheap and tacky.

CVE Omini from the late 80's was at the time the ugliest thing I had ever seen but that has now been replaced with my hatred for the good ugly Streetlight and the pointless Borismaster (I refuse to call it "new Routemaster")

I always thought the Optare Solo with no front overhang was like a childs image of a bus. I'm sure my grandson had a hand in it!

The East Lancs bodied Volvo Citybuses operated by London & Country/Arriva were never good-lookers, but they were nice buses to travel in. I think the ugliest buses I can recall are the CVE Omnis, though. These buses hit every branch of the ugly tree on the way down...
Of the current crop of buses, I'd say the ugliest are the ED class MCV Evolution Darts of Go-Ahead. Nasty box-like things, these are...

When the Plaxton President first came out I had reservations on its appearance with its slanted front and flat rear, especially on the standard length Trident from Firstbus and Metroline...and later London General. It later grew on me, though I will always prefer the ALX400 body, which I wish that Stockwell had ordered for its Tridents (ADLs instead of PDLs). If I knew how to use the relevant applications, I would do an artist impressions of an ALX400 Trident in London General livery, blinds set to 295. Another bus body I wasn't too keen on were the T reg Optare Spectras used on route 60. To me the long wheelbase length coupled with its centre staircase gave it a rather ugly appearance. The K reg SP class version used on the 3 were better looking with their forward staircase, despite all but one (SP2) having single door format.

I remember watching London Tonight when SPs started on route 3. They were described by London Buses as "The future of bus travel". I suppose they did look different and no-one then could have predicted that step-fronted buses would only have another 12 years of service in London.

Metroline's SELs, they look as if they were inspired from the Transformers movie but went badly wrong. Inside it gets even worse. Just horrible.

Today I went on one of them on route 7 and the inside of the bus looked so ugly, shabby and out of place. Upstairs was worse. They look really unattractive on route 7 to be honest.
