This thread is for those that have done their Bus (or lorry!) licence privately and have a training school to recommend. I'll start the ball rolling: The Scania Driver Experience - Purfleet, Essex. Bookings taken at a central booking line and they recommend an assessment drive at a cost of £72 which is refunded when a course is booked. I did my HGV here but their training staff are very good and very patient. Bus training is done in a manual coach.

I realise this is an old thread, but thought I’d add to the list. I recently gained my Cat D licence and DQC following a week with EP Training. Their Module 3 practical driving lessons are done out of a yard near Addlestone (just a couple of minutes from J11 of the M25), with the test done at Guildford test centre. The Module 4 CPC practical demonstration is done by in-house examiners at their Bookham office (near Leatherhead). I did my medical and Modules 1/2 myself, however EP can also facilitate these as part of a package deal. Training is done on a 2:1 basis, 0700-1530, using a 2008 MCV eVolution-bodied MAN. Their website is: www.eptraining.co.uk

A company called trailer training, not sure but lukecinahgv.com/ said if you mention him, they will give you an extra 5% discount on the guareented price beat promise. Here is the YouTube link for Luke and that company ... m.youtube.com/watch?v=vMuQ32ozd-4

Appreciate that we're in what was originally a London based and centred forum, but for those in Scotland, one of my staff was recently put through his test by Ritchies in Glasgow. An alternative and also another good training provider in the area is GTG

What ever you do don't book lessons with "Right Driving School" they played around with my nephew which payed £540, for 30hrs block lesson around Ilford and the instructor was a total D.H! Following a complaint to the DVSA, a fee of £100 only was refunded!
I trust the well known companies such as AA and Red!

Apologies for bringing up an old thread, but I'm considering getting a PCV licence as I'm interested in entering the bus preservation world in the near future. However, are there many driving schools out there for people who don't work in the bus industry to gain a bus license, or do some operators offer bus driving lessons to non-employees? I'm also about to start a full time job in the rail industry once I graduate from uni, so do many schools offer lessons on weekends? One school I did find was the National Driving School (NDC), who are based in Croydon (and I believe offer training to Abellio sometimes) so are local to me, however the price they quote for a seven day crash course on their website does look a bit steep. Saying this though, I assume its relatively straightforward for someone who has a car license to pass a bus driving test (hence why the maximum they offer is a 7 day course)? Has anyone used the NDC to gain their PCV licence?

The price at the moment to get any training is through the roof because there is so much demand, I’ve got my C+E training later this month for around £1700 and I’ve had to wait around 2 months from booking to actually starting as they are so busy, Roadtrain round here are fully booked up to October. The NDC have their buses tested at Ensignbus and they always seems in smart condition, I’ve head quite a few people say they are really good to train with as well, they are quite well known and as such you’ll pay the price, I would stay away from likes of Wallace who various people have said, just want your money
