Hybrids simply because they are super quick and the NX ones sound like rocket ships!!! Also if a passenger has got on your nerves you can accidentally stamp on the brake pedal and they go forwards twice a fast!! The trouble with diesels is some are slow and it spoils it for the rest but an E400 with its engine fan going and traveling about 30 mph+ sounds mega!!

Diesels because they have more seats and make noises. The ADHs are totally unsuitable for the 94. Make more noise is all well and good, when a VLA comes roaring past my bed room window when i'm trying to sleep. squeak, roar, squeak as they limp past my bed room window when I'm trying to study. Give me an ADH running past my house and i'll be a happy man. I used to live on Green lanes, I had VLW's and VNL's roaring away, DLA and DLP squeaky brakes, it never bothered me once, what is annoying when I stay there now is the sound of a HV taking off in diesel mode, I don't know what it is but it's very distinctive about that sound

In the light of remarks on this thread here is a little rhyme for certain people. Drive, drive, drive your bus, Loudly down the road. Revvily, revvily, revvily, revvily, Life is but a dream. And here is the hybrid version Drive, drive, drive your bus, Quietly down the road. hummily, hummily, hummily, hummily, Life is but a dream.

Hybrid Buses are much better as they are environmentally friendly, quieter and majority of them don't roar or make silly noises compared to diesel buses. Diesel buses can provide more seats than Hybrids. With the seating issue it all depends on the hybrid heres a few examples Gemini B5LH seats 60, only 2 less than a B9TL DB300 Hybrid has the exact same amount of seats as the DB300 E400H is where you notice a bit more difference as based on euro 5 spec for example the diesel is 65 seated and the hybrid 61 seated Now with the brand new euro 6 E400 MMC Hybrid it has the same amount of seats as the diesel version

You would rather roaring B7TLs and DLAs with those awful brakes than a HV pulling away in diesel mode? I for one couldn't/can't stand any of the former sounds. I hate that B7TL roaring. When I lived at my mums when a 242/53/4 was at Hackney downs/amhurst road/dalston lane which is 0.2miles away you could always hear it especially from my bedroom or the balcony. When a 253/4 was running light up pembury road, especially early hours of the morning - oh man, who needed a alarm.

I agree with DW498 I'm afraid - would rather listen to DLA's or VLA's over B5LH's any day.

And even the Euro V ones aren't too bad. Although the Euro VI E40Hs are a lot louder than the Euro V ones. I don't know how they messed that one up...

I guess you never saw my post near the top of the page which said: For me, the louder a bus is, the better - I live next to three routes use roaring VLA's and I will miss it when they finally disappear - 'quiet' makes me think something is up which is why I could never live in the countryside.

Ah, I see. Well I live relatively far (a good 5 min walk away) from noisy bus routes, so my preference is the complete opposite your yours lol. But still...Hybrids are cool. I mean, the buses breathe out clean air! Isn't that great?

I don't mind the sound of either type just not loud roaring or screechy brakes that is all thanks
