It really is crazy what's going on. wWith all the increased cycle lanes, banning turns so you have to travel further to get to where you want to get to, pavement widening, reduced bus lanes, 20mph boroughs etc we will rapidly reach total gridlock. Some bus routes are painfully slow as it is (and I say this as someone who generally enjoys riding buses!) +1 Thankfully, most people still drive at 30, despite these silly 20 limits... It's all in an insincere effort to appear 'green' by reducing pollution... but in reality, most vehicles, including cars will be driving in second or third gear, as you're too slow to go into 4th where you burn less fuel, so vehicles will all sound like they are just moving off... That's until Islington bring in their borough-wide 5mph limit next year Surprised there's no plan by these Eco nutters to bring all the motorway speed limits down to 30, single carriageways to 20 Have you not heard about Islington's new scheme - all cars must be pushed around by their owner in order to reach 100% less emissions!

They're trialling donkeys instead of mopeds for their Traffic Wardens... sorry Civil Enforcement Officers in September, saying any manure left on the roads by the animals can be collected and sent to North London Waste Authority to be burnt and converted to Green energy and reached an agreement with TfL that all buses be escorted down Upper Street by a man walking in front holding a red flag

Here's update on the Southall Broadway closure
Route 207 Buses will be curtailed at Southall Park. Buses towards Southall will set down at Southall Park (stop UN) and Buses towards White City will pick up at Southall Police Station (stop R). This change is in association with Southall Broadway construction works. This routeing is expected to last until December 2014.
Route 427 Buses towards Uxbridge are temporarily diverted from Southall High Street via South Road, Beaconsfield Road and Trinity Road to normal line of route. Buses towards Acton are unaffected. This is due to Southall Broadway construction works. This diversion is expected to last until December 2014.
Route 607 Buses towards Uxbridge are diverted in association with Southall Broadway construction works. During Monday to Friday mornings, evenings and Saturday shopping hours) buses are diverted via Ruislip Road. During all other times buses are diverted via South Road, Beaconsfield Road and Trinity Road. This routeing is expected to last until December 2014.
Route N207 Buses that run between Holborn and Hayes By-Pass will run short to Southall Town Hall. Buses that between Holborn and Uxbridge, towards Uxbridge will be diverted via Ruislip Road. This routeing is expected to last until December 2014.

Ah, so it is via Beaconsfield Road after all. I guess it shouldn't be too bad given it is only in one direction, therefore no meeting a bus in the opposite direction. Better watch out for trees. Short to Southall Park is good for the 207. Meanwhile, at the Southall Police Station stop right next to Lidl, there was a small access road with a few parking bays that is being paved over. Think how Richmond Station used to have that taxi area which got paved over. Attachment Deleted Attachment Deleted Attachment DeletedAnd at The Green they've made a new traffic island which has made the road narrower, and moved the bus stop for Southall Broadway a bit further up.

Actually went down Beaconsfield Road today. They've painted double yellow lines everywhere, and, shock horror, got rid of the humps! Also evidence of working to remove an island at the traffic lights so buses waiting to turn right don't block all other traffic.

Once the gasworks are developed, is there any likelyhood of a bus route going down that way? If so one wonders whether Beaconsfield Road might be served en route.

Why not route the 607 via the N207 diversion because it'd miss one stop, but a lot more traffic missed too (I'd assume as it avoids a lot of Southall Broadway)? Here's update on the Southall Broadway closure
Route 607 Buses towards Uxbridge are diverted in association with Southall Broadway construction works. During all other times buses are diverted via South Road, Beaconsfield Road and Trinity Road. This routeing is expected to last until December 2014.
Luckily TfL have FINALLY done something logical in the 607 diversions, as 607 can afford to miss practically the whole of Southall Broadway due to the even worse than usual traffic anticipated throughout the peaks and shopping hours. In the year I did go via Southall Broadway, the traffic was bad to horrendous around Southall Broadway! The aforementioned one stop missed is the one in Southall Broadway (Trinity Road), and knowing the state of the traffic, you could walk that one stop! As predicted there is an inconsistent fashion in how they put the diversion on spider maps, Acton Central have the N207 and the 607 looking like stopping nowhere between Southall Police Stn and Hayes Grapes whilst the 607 also goes through the 427 route too, most have the N207 on the diversion whilst 607 goes through the 427 route with a triangle showing it doesn't stop at Trinity Road at peaks/Sat daytime. I might go to Southall North to get photos of the 607 and N207 on Lady Margaret Road when the diversion starts! I wonder the knock on effect on the PVR of the 427 - how much will it increase by? The full diversion of the 607 (peaks + Sat shopping hours)/N207 is via Lady Margaret Road, Ruislip Road, The Parkway A312 back onto line of route at Hayes By-Pass Roundabout. The planned hours of the 607 diversion via this is apparently "0700-1000 and 1600-1900 Mon to Fri, 1000-1600 Saturday" (copied from White City Estate/QPR spider map)

An update on this. It has been almost a month since the closure was implemented. Traffic has been horrible. The section of road from Lady Margaret Road and High Street on the approaches to Southall Broadway, plus whole of South Road, The Green, King Street, Western Road, Convent Way and Hayes Road have been full of traffic. Severely affecting the 105, 195, 482 and H32 especially. A significant amount of 482 and H32 are now being diverted via Merrick Road, Norwood Road and Thorncliffe Road to miss out the traffic. Even the 120 are being diverted via Merrick Road to miss out King Street and The Green. In a short period of time with the H32, I saw AV72 and AV74 diverted, with running light. SP20 on the 482 did the same. I was about to get whatever bus AV72 was home from Southall Station, that one diverted after King Street via Norwood Road, but as soon as I saw a 120 behind I switched to it as for some reason I did not trust the driver to stop (even though he did say that he would stop) . At Southall Station they closed Stop O (towards King Street) for about two weeks as buses stopping there caused tailbacks over the traffic light junction nearby. Then the road layout was altered to give overtaking space to that stop, but one of the 2 lanes in the other direction was lost. Attachment Deleted Attachment Deleted

Finally after almost three months, the remaining routes get temporary timetables and frequency increases. Having said that, I've noted the 120 running 18 buses in the peaks since it started, and 15 between the peaks (an increase of 2 in both cases). 18 October 2014 105: PVR changed to 17 (previously 16) 195: PVR changed to 15 (previously 14) DE1611 moved to HZ. E5: PVR changed to 12 (previously 11) Kept 13 DES from the E10, unless another has appeared. 25 October 2014 120: PVR changed to 18 (previously 16) 482: PVR changed to 9 (previously 8) H32: PVR changed to 14 +1 Route 697 bus (previously 13 +1) Increased traffic on Hayes Road at Bull's Bridge and the resulting tailbacks to Western Road have also affected all those except the 120. This traffic would be avoiding Southall. The traffic lights outside the new Costco store also came into proper use when it opened last month, not helping matters either. I haven't been to the Broadway itself in over a month, but I'd hope work is progressing well. Still haven't had a ride on the 427/607 diversions . Bus stop at Southall Station northbound (and probably Park Avenue southbound) are still closed.

At Midday on Friday 12 December, Southall Broadway was finally opened in both directions again . The timetable for the 207 was updated on the 6th however. I was there for a while between 1400-1500 and there did seem to be a shortage of westbound buses, especially the 207 which is about twice as frequent as the 427 and 607. Didn't see anything on diversion either during that time. Still some finishing touches to pavements and lampposts to be completed. The road was resurfaced with full overnight closures over about 2 weeks until 5 December. I did notice that most of the paving hasn't been replaced as it was done in the last 10 years or so and is still in excellent condition, only just adding new paving stones of the same design/colour to the ends where the pavement was extended.

If it's anything like New Malden High St., I wonder how long before bits of it are dug up?
