Not turning this to a political discussion. A Routemaster bus got invaded during the protest near Kensington, you can see on the beginning of the video the protesters climbing onto the roof of the bus and even sitting on the bonnet of the Routemaster bus. So here is the video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8Q6dcaDiN8Video by RT Ruptly

I first thought this thread was about people protesting about the withdrawal of the Routemasters!
But seriously, I heard several calls from Centrecomm about the situation. They sounded quite stress as drivers were blocking up the road and were going the wrong way or they were missing the diversion. To be honest, it didn't sound very professional from Centrecomm.

Well it's nothing like that, it's all to do with Palestine as what the protest is. If there's any major damages found on the bus, TFL and Tower Transit should sue Socialist Workers (the one that is responsible for the protest) and they have to pay the bill to repair the Routemaster bus that the protesters damaged! I don't care what they're protesting about, the Routemaster bus is more important then the protesters. Here are more videos. Here is more footage of the protest holding up the Routemaster bus. www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-uPIHEG_xEAlso here is the video of the buses including New Routemasters all held up. www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3amR3p3IiEGeezer surfs on the Open platform of the Routemaster to go past the protesters. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkI8_ejAD-o

No point in repairing it now..... The best of the batch from the 9H will be transferred to WH for the 15H and a full refurbishment, and the others will be sold off to private owners - so I'd suggest there's very much a point in repairing it

I first thought this thread was about people protesting about the withdrawal of the Routemasters! That's exacty what I thought! On a centimental note with the final withdrawal of RM's on route 9 and Routemaster 60 events, it got me thinking, how much action RM1776 has seen since it entered service in December of 1963? I checked up the data sheet on Ian's bus stop page and it makes for interesting reading She started life at Westbourne Park, swapped around with garages like Victoria and Stockwell. Withdrawn from LT in 1987 went to Manchester, served in Liverpool, wen on to become a fish and chip bar in Newcastle!?, then taken back by TFL in 2000 under the marshal refurbs, back in service at Clapton on the 38's, THEN *takes a deep breath* Sent back to where it started in that cold december 40 odd years previously! As this bus could be its final ever transfer in public service to West Ham or withdrawal in a matter of days, this bus is involved at the height of current affairs and gets screentime on a worldwide news channel. The RM's legacy is quite astonishing, think there are 500-600 odd RM's left out there and how many stories they could tell, how many different generations of people have crewed them and have travelled on them over the years, how many incidents they've all seen, protests they've inadvertantly been a part of!

True, this issue with Palestine and Israel is getting very serious, I was actually about to make a thread about it.

Nice to see the police didn't want to upset anyone by coming to the bus's aid!!! They should have gone down to the bus and protected it. Bring back the 1980's coppers all 6' with moustaches and black leather gloves!

I very much doubt that the protesters would have any interest in causing damage. While it was a passionate protest, it was, I understand, peaceful.
It would be illogical to march for peace in Israel and Palestine then start smashing things up. No politics from me but fair play to them.
