You can bet that the running times won't be adapted when this change is launched.

or an LED blind rollout similar to MBK1's... No Serverking, NO. You can't fight it... it's evolution I'm sure Leon Daniels is contemplating the blind change, I doubt EvoBus (Mercedes) would have mistakenly sent a bus with LED's on, as they know what is expected of them for TfL spec, having supplied tons of Citaro rigid's to TfL operators, ie the buses on the X26, 203 and 227 He even signed it off as a 'TfL approved blind' All these vinyl blinds, inserts, etc costs a lot to supply and maintain... Still this speed thing they're trying to push on cars as well, and want us in something like the Google Car which drives itself via a sat nav at a correct speed... I always wonder, what would happen if the server controlling these self driving cars is damaged or down, but I don't think they thought that far ahead... This idea may be as successful as the Emirates Dangleway...

The Lothian B5TL has gone back to Edinburgh and is no longer with Go North East. I do think that if London was going to adopt LEDs that it would have been done by now. The big problem for TfL is the requirement to consult. Private bus cos running deregulated services don't bother with that but any sense that TfL was worsening conditions for those with poor eyesight would bring on the political pains. We've already seen this with white on black blinds and I suspect that if we get a change of Mayor in 2016 that there will be a policy change back to yellow on black blinds.

I was so sure the B5TL would have been on Voith, as Lothian prefer them - I think they have the highest number of B9TLs on Voith. snoggle, I think it's Leon Daniels who decides as head of London Buses, regardless of what Mayor is in place. Boris loves technology and new inventions and ideas, so I don't think he would be against MBK1 blinds, as its a nice fusion of modern (LED) with traditional (Johnston font on LEDs). I can't see us going back to Dayglo, even though I reckon over 50% of buses are still not WOB... I just don't think this speed restriction is safe, or necessary.

I think all I'll say is that the Mayor is the Commissioner's boss and the Commissioner is the boss of the head of Surface Transport. I suspect there may well be some pressure to see a change at the top of TfL and elsewhere in TfL. There comes a point when people cannot escape their failings or perceived failings. I doubt the NB4L will "do" for anyone but I do think the chronic failure to deliver cycling infrastructure and the continued level of cycling fatalities will not be tolerated by any new Mayor regardless of party. We are years behind where we should be and TfL is being constantly criticised about the non delivery and underspend on cycling. There is a subtle campaign building that will see cycling become a massive electoral issue in 2016 and there will be demands for a change at the top of Surface Transport. Mr Hendy may also read the runes and decide its time for him to go anyway. He had to do something of a chameleon act to survive under Boris anyway given the concerted media campaign to link him with bendy buses. He also escaped a potentially dire fate (as did all of London) when Tim Parker quit after a few weeks in the post of Deputy Mayor for Transport. He was renowned as an axeman and would probably have come into conflict with much of TfL's management as he tried to strip out loads of cost and inefficiency from TfL. Hendy's not exactly poor and will walk away with a stonking pension and will undoubtedly be offered directorships or non exec places on company boards. I'm not a betting man but I can't see the top level of TfL remaining the same after May 2016.

I'm not a betting man but I can't see the top level of TfL remaining the same after May 2016. I seem to have drifted into this political bus lane... I'm sure the council's CCTV will catch me So Hendy looks like he's been doing more behind the scenes, but it's always Leon we hear about... I think the Routemaster is here to stay, it is iconic, even if it's been costly. It's not such a white elephant as the Millennium Dome was or the Emirates Dangleway to Nowhere is now (Why would I need to go to Custom House of all places from the O2? ) I see this lowering of speed limits will placate cyclists (the majority will just ignore a 20 limit as it's complete bobbins anyway, and just drive at 30. It is unnerving in areas like Sadlers Wells in the morning rush hour, to be surrounded by hordes of cyclists trying to race you at 20 and literally swarming over the road), but the string of failed attempts to provide safer roads for Cyclists, despite the Boris Bikes which I think have been a good idea is an issue. The Congestion Charge slowly creeping up from £8, to £10, and now £11.50 might stick in the craw of some motorists as well. I'd like to see a change of management in TfL, but perhaps that's me speaking as an LED blind and Livery fan (sorry Connor) - I miss the liveries of Metroline, Stagecoach, Arriva and London General, and not forgetting Brentford's Armchair Transport's red and orange that used to grace the Darts on the E8 and E2... regulation of fares, getting rid of cash, introduction of contactless has been good, but perhaps unreasonable bid demands in contracts may deter some operators who years ago would bend over backwards to keep a London route. Yeah a lot could change, but I suspect, a lot may not... I wonder where the endless pot of money for all these transport projects (the new Routemasters, Crossrail, takeover of Greater Anglia local routes, electrification of GOBLIN line to Barking) will actually end... I think they've wasted money on some things (YOTB, pointless conversion from dayglo to white vinyl blinds) but have done well with others... Let's see if Hendy kicks Daniels out in the near future...

My mum lives on the south coast with all the other grannies. LED blinds down there and people see them with no problems.
Cyclists?, this may sound harsh, but it does not matter what TFL do, cyclists will still take risks.

Ok here's my opinion. The speed limit is what it is. We shouldn't be breaking it anyway. You think the company is gonna defend you if you're involved in an accident while speeding??? No. they'll sack you before you've even made it to court. And thats before the media get ahold of you and your photo is under headline "43MPH KILLER BUS DRIVER" So why do it? I'm not saying I never break the speed limit because anyone that says so is a liar. I do however keep to it as much as I can. Screw the running times. I used to care about being on time and rush everywhere, but now I think why should I??
If you can't maintain headway and stay legal then it's the running times that need to be sorted NOT your driving.

Just more health & safety nonsense that will increase congestion As usual, it's just picking on buses rather than going after other motor vehicle users & cyclists. Took the words out of my mouth ridiculous idea ! Aren't some of abellios Buses restricted to 30mph ? How do they do on routes with quick running time ? There's no need to do more than 30mph on any of Abellio's routes in Battersea where those buses are based. The 414 does go along Park Lane but it should be remembered the speed limit is a limit and not a target. The answer to your question is that you end up finishing work late in the case of routes like the 156 which are still timed for the uprated TA acceleration rates. Not Enviros that take 30s to reach 30mph.
