On the agenda for next week's Finance and Policy Committee. TfL F&P PaperAll to be OPO, not crew. Buses to possibly have modified air cooling performance and changes to the working of the rear door to reduce instances of people being clonked by the door. For delivery before April 2016 and TfL say routes have been identified for the extra buses.

The paper hints that the issue is that too much heat escapes from the engine compartment under the stairs. This is hardly a shock given the reports of the customer assistants being boiled alive on hot days. I still think opening windows are very difficult on the NB4L because of the likely weight penalty and the inability of Wrights to get the weight down much more.

Either with conductors or don't bother, what is the point in running these buses in OPO mode?

(sighs)... is this on top of the 600 ordered already (I thought they are only up to the late 200's fleet wise with the wretched things ) or part of the current order of white elephants? Noticed the moquette on some of the earlier ones are already looking a little threadbare I assume all three doors will then only operate when at the stop, or will the rear door be used in a 'summer mode' setting if they are all going to be OPO (FreeBus) mode? Totally negates the point of the rear platform if it may be rarely open except at stops... Yeah we'll see if the Air Cooling things are ever fitted... why don't Wrightbus use the same air cooling units from the HV's or anything else they make?

It is 200 *extra* giving a prospective grand total of 808 buses (including the prototypes).

A lot of routes currently have issues due to tight turns so it will be interesting to see where they end up

A lot of routes currently have issues due to tight turns so it will be interesting to see where they end up I fear that trying to find a home for another 200 of the things means routes like the 25, 149, 279 and 207 must start to come into scope because they're straight and have high PVRs. I guess the 279's turning at Manor House may prove problematic for a NB4L. Alternatively as this looks like a "Boris farewell" gesture he might ensure they get dumped on Havering, Redbridge, Bromley and Hillingdon to finally please the Tory Assembly members from those areas. That brings in the prospect of the 208, 25, 86, 5, 427 and 607 being "treated" to them. At this rate the bus network will become unusable for me.

This is getting annoying now.... I agree-STOP calling them Routemasters! FINALY, I'm not alone! I belive the term 'Routemaster' to the NB4L is blasphemous to the original design, they should at least call then 'Streetmasters' as it refers to the original, but does NOT suggest that it is directly related I imagine the routes which passed the route tests as mentioned in the FOI thread are likely candidates. Maybe a few suburban routes could convert e.g 207
