IF-IF they are ever run on the 137, they should sell seats along Cedars Road, and if it gets up there, try it up Crown Point for the N137(Pant & Weeze) The 137 will begin converting to NBfL operation before Christmas. Overheard at Tfl HQ: "Right lads the 137. Can't put it off an longer. Here's the plan. No speed limit on Queenstown Road, remove al the stops south of Silverthorne Road, and fit a full railway barrier with all the bells and lights across Wandsworth Road, I MIGHT just make it to the Common"

oh my. a little bit of sick just came up into my mouth I guess the name New White Elephant isn't as catchy as New Routemaster either... A lot of routes currently have issues due to tight turns so it will be interesting to see where they end up I fear that trying to find a home for another 200 of the things means routes like the 25, 149, 279 and 207 must start to come into scope because they're straight and have high PVRs. I guess the 279's turning at Manor House may prove problematic for a NB4L. Alternatively as this looks like a "Boris farewell" gesture he might ensure they get dumped on Havering, Redbridge, Bromley and Hillingdon to finally please the Tory Assembly members from those areas. That brings in the prospect of the 208, 25, 86, 5, 427 and 607 being "treated" to them. At this rate the bus network will become unusable for me. The 208...?!?!? Don't Make me laugh with the amount of people who use that route that trash will reduce capacity, plus will allow the 320 to be ignored even more Fare Evasion! In addition I'd rather see the 4Free6 return than see LTs on the 208

I'll be a happy guy if they don't touch the 86 or 5. Or maybe most East London routes. Or the 62 ;-) Converting the 62 would come with benefits, one benefit would be them loosing their front ends trying to make the turn from Woodward Road onto Lodge Avenue Not to forget the turn from Gascoigne Road onto the A13 in which even the current buses struggle to do without hitting the kerb

In addition I'd rather see the 4Free6 return than see LTs on the 208 I only suggested the 208 as its the main route into Bromley and Orpington and Boris has to keep James Cleverly (AM) and his brother Joe (MP for Orpington) happy. If you read the paper that I linked to the justification for ordering 200 more buses seems to be a) allows the government to show the EU that something is being done about London's chronic and illegal air quality b) we should spend lots of money because people just lurve the NRM c) there is benefit / cost ratio of a truly scintilating 0.2:1 (the pass mark used to be 1.4:1) In short there is absolutely NO reason to buy them *unless* Uncle Bozza has insisted that more of the things be bought before he leaves City Hall. I'd rather the circa £70m for the NB4Ls was spent on improving services. It is incredible that bendy buses were binned because of concerns over fraud from the open boarding system and yet we will end up with more than twice as many NB4Ls in service in open boarding mode than we had bendies. The "smoke and mirrors" routine about how the NB4L works is truly astounding.

The 208 was an entirely speculative suggestion on my part and offered largely in jest *if* this initiative is more about pleasing political friends than improving the bus service. There's no need to go into full "angry outrage" mode about something that almost certainly will not happen.

An open rear platform would of worked well when snarled up in traffic in Southall, OPO though, a complete waste of the (only) asset the vehicle has.

On the agenda for next week's Finance and Policy Committee. TfL F&P PaperAll to be OPO, not crew. Buses to possibly have modified air cooling performance and changes to the working of the rear door to reduce instances of people being clonked by the door. For delivery before April 2016 and TfL say routes have been identified for the extra buses. The link doesn't work for me
