When i had mine with Stagecoach it was: Interview Maths/English Test Basic 10 questions on Highway Code Van test if you pass that then you begin induction and preparing for the hazard perception/ theory and Case studies tests. All of which you have to pass. Then you begin your bus driving learning and do another test for another case study (i think it was) then your driving test. Other operators may differ

All companies have different methods. But the highway code questions should be easy, they are usually multiple choice as in theory test. No offence, but if you are worrying about it and you say you have your car licence, then you should not be driving. IMO they are dead easy questions and they usually tend to give a wide pass mark. After all when you go for your PCV, you would have to do another PCV theory test and PCV practical test; hence why they get you to do this.

Thanks guys!!! Hi chris20c... I can't remember my recruitment day with Abellio but I do remember driving a bus. I think the highway code is multiple choice questions. They will give you a picture and you just tick a box to say what the picture is. Anyway, I see if I can ask around at my garage as there's many new drivers who would know. I don't think you should worry too much about your English. Abellio has many drivers with English as their second language. Even one of the Ibus controllers has poor English but they don't seem to have a problem with him (Myself and many other drivers certainly have a problem with him )

I hope I'll pass the first test so i can attend the rest of the recruitment day. The math and English test are usually relevant to every day life and thus have good chances of being answered correctly. When I took the test, many moons ago, the maths was centered around selling bus tickets. If you take deep breaths and read each question carefully, you have a good chance of getting through.

You might want to read up on local culture as well. I recall on recruitment day, there was a written question paper on customer service. One of the questions was something like "What would you do if you saw a same sex couple kissing on your bus." One of the candidates put his hand up and asked if that was legal.
