At BN, you can get DW59 on the 59 & VLA159 on the 159. A number of years ago you could have DLA159 on the 159 and until recently, DW50 on the 50. 10199 on Route 199 will also happen soon once the new E400s have been delivered to TL I've noticed TA281 being used a lot on Route 281 recently PVL321 is also a regular on the 321, as well as VLW168 on the 168.

You can probably guess my favourite Metrobus, just by looking at my user name! The mighty B199 WUL. All because I spent the most time when on my work experience at UX on it, spent one morning fixing the rear doors to see it head off out on the 207, only for its alternator to give up later on that night whilst on the N207, so we spent most the following day replacing it! Following that, I always seemed to catch it and see it wherever it went! I was gutted when it went to X and was overjoyed to see it come back to UX and see out its final days. Always knew it was M1199 from a distance as it had black beading on the upper windows whereas the rest of UX's were silver. It was also a vehicle were everything hooked up perfectly, nice smooth gear changes, good turn of speed and an excellent sounding retarder and it was a rare UX example that kept its original yellow, brown, black and orange maquette. Never had a bad journey on her! I hope she's still about, I've seen a pic of her on training duties in Poland dated 2012. Other M's that stick out are M1246, always looked like it was winking at you cause it only had one opening upper window! And M1438, used to shunt itself into 3rd with a massive jolt, that made a few people look up! and the FW M's I've been on always seemed to make a funny whining noise whilst in 1st gear. Memorable Metrobus journeys include waiting what felt like ages for a 207/607 in Ealing Bdy, M1400 on the 207 turned up and driver ripped the guts out the poor girl all the way to Uxbridge, I don't even think a 607 passed us on the way, that was the last time I rode M1400. Another on 207, it was a weeknight, pouring down with rain, and bus was jammed packed, the driver was rather heavy footed and had the retarder screaming with everyone falling into each other- that was a lively journey. My last was on the 71 going to Chessington, the driver looked like Errol Brown from Hot Chocolate! The way he drove round Copt Gilders felt like we was already at the amusement park! Favourite stretch of road though for an M was between Hillingdon Heath and Uxbridge, drivers would gun it round coney green and down Hillingdon hill until the speed camera where they would slam the anchors on, the sound of those retarders screaming was excellent! How I miss that! My last UX M was M1051 on the 207 and my last proper fare paying M was Carousel's M703 on the 1. Don't really recall many National journeys although I do remember being on the 204 (U4) and the driver came charging down Kingston Lane, he swung the bus to the right to go round the bend and the ticket machine fell off its moorings, hit the front doors and ended up rolling round the front door footwell! I had many memorable Metrobus journies as a kid, including a thrash down the North Circular to Palmers Green on the 112 (this was when most of the North Circular was single carriageway after Henley's Corner ), and loads of thrashes on the E2 and 207. I remember M487 being fairly quick. But I miss the roar of the Nationals on the 607. I liked the H37's Dennis Dart versions too But to bring things more up to date, I used to like DLA243 on the 243 - despite it having HUGE arriva vinyls at the front in it's most recent refurb

But I'm still waiting to see SP65 on the 65 on FW65 (closest I've gotten is FW64) I also remember VP111 on the 111. I think TA281 still has it's AV blinds, so can only appear on 110, 281 and 681 and maybe 216

Also liked to see DLA243 on route 243. This was a very common ob back in the day... and like PDL118 which I saw yesterday on the 166 in Purley, she wore two Arriva vinyls at the front at one point

Ah...the Ms and Ts...
Of the two, I preferred Titans, but both were preferable to DMSs. Sidcup was one of my local sheds, so I was lucky enough to be able to travel on both Ms and Ts regularly. Will need to check if any still exist, but I do hope the Bromley Bus Preservation Group or similar find and preserve one of Sidcup's initial batch of Metrobuses (M800-805)...

I used to think of Metrobuses as largely serving similar areas of London to the Metro (Underground), while Titans would tighten (!) up the quality of service in areas less well served by Underground. Admittedly, areas of south-west and east London were exceptions.
I didn't note vehicle numbers, but my first London Metrobus and Titan rides were on route 267 on 25.8.79 and route 87 on 15.5.80 respectively. I welcome these routes having been among the longest-serving M and T routes respectively.
By comparison, my last London M and T rides were on route 118 on 28.10.00 and 136 on 8.11.99 respectively.
I have been on a few Metrobuses and Titans with MTL and GTL, a Titan with Oxford Bus Company and a Metrobus with Halifax Joint Committee on 30.1.10, deliberately postponed from 2009. I have thus been on London Transport Metrobuses in the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s!!
