The Piccadilly line was suspended earlier between South Harrow and Uxbridge because of a "shortage of control room staff" was this a knock on affect from the Met suspension or did they just decided to suspend the service?

The section from Rayners Lane-Uxbridge comes under Line Control from the Metropolitan control room at Hammersmith.

Has Baker Street closed now then? No, still signal controls Wembley Park, Finchley Road (north), *King’s Cross, *Farringdon, *Moorgate, *Liverpool Street, *Aldgate areas (* - due to be transferred to Hammersmith from 6/7 March 2021) The Metropolitan Line Controllers are at Hammersmith.

No, still signal controls Wembley Park, Finchley Road (north), *King’s Cross, *Farringdon, *Moorgate, *Liverpool Street, *Aldgate areas (* - due to be transferred to Hammersmith from 6/7 March 2021) The Metropolitan Line Controllers are at Hammersmith. To me it seemed sensible for controllers to based close to the actual line, and Hammersmith is certainly not. The conclusion must be that controllers could be based anywhere reasonable. It should therefore be technically feasible to have the equipment controlled by PC or some such and those PCs could be anywhere, dare I say letting controllers work from home, allowing them to isolate from Covid if needed and work safely. I am sure I will now be shot down probably with excellent reasoning why this is not possible, but if it were possible that might resolve the control staff availability problem. I am probably being way too simplistic and probably stupid too, but just being devil's advocate without very little knowledge.

To me it seemed sensible for controllers to based close to the actual line, and Hammersmith is certainly not. For many years in the 1940s/50s and early-60s Line Controllers were based in a small room at Leicester Square, with only telephone links to signal cabins before the advent of purpose built control rooms such as Earl’s Court and Coburg Street.

Further staff shortages at Hammersmith SCC this weekend necessitating the winding down of the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan line service from 18:30 and full suspension of the service from 21:00 as well as no District line between High St Ken and Edgware Road from 20:15. Start of traffic on Sunday across the combine will also be 45 mins later than billed. Also no Chiltern service via Amersham after 20:00 on both days either.
Rail Replacement Buses: Wembley Park - Ruislip Ruislip - Uxbridge Harrow-on-the-Hill - Watford Ricky - Amersham Amersham - Chesham

Further staff shortages at Hammersmith SCC this weekend necessitating the winding down of the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan line service from 18:30 and full suspension of the service from 21:00 as well as no District line between High St Ken and Edgware Road from 20:15. Start of traffic on Sunday across the combine will also be 45 mins later than billed. Also no Chiltern service via Amersham after 20:00 on both days either. Existing weekend closure of Piccadilly line between Hammersmith - Northfields/Uxbridge with replacement buses running over that stretch too. Summary, it’s going to be a busy weekend for bussing in West London!

Am I right in thinking that the serve from Wembley Park will not go all the way to Uxbridge based on frequency? Properly the number of buses per hour required for the amount of passengers is different between Uxbridge and Ruislip compared to Ruislip and Wembley Park.
A lot is happening in North West and West London, especially as there is no District line west of Earls Court this weekend.

Going a bit off subject here but still in away kind of related to your point, the London City Airport Control tower is now situated all the way down in Swanwick which is more than 90 miles from the Airport.
