Just wondering if some of you guys can name a few bus stands that are not actually in use by any current route Terminating or Curtailing there. I know some and there is an awful lot of them but I just want to know more. Thanks.

There's a bus stand on the corner of Beacontree Way and Forest Road near Waterworks Corner. I never knew it existed until the other day, not sure if it is ever in use.

I think the bus stand in forest hill (westbourne drive) is still in use.

Sometimes 275s stand there off line of route. If the 123 is badly disrupted then there might be a turn there - it's certainly on the blinds. It used to be a trolleybus turning point a long, long time ago. Flickr image - RM208 Not my photo.

Burdett Road, Limehouse (off Commercial Road) is bus stand and it used to be route 395 before withdrawn without replace. Crown Lane Spur Bus stand (it used by route 261 before exented to PRU Hospital and also where bus 208 do overlapping section from Bromley common to Lewisham while Orpington do Catford end before change)

Enfield Lock station- stand on Bradley Road on east side of station. Usually used by cars, rather than buses!
There is stand on the A10 just south of the Bury Street junction.
Two stands (one of each side of the road) on Wadham Road, Walthamstow just east of the Crooked Billet Interchange.
Bus stands on Claremont Road, Surbiton (including one north facing just north of The Crescent). Mainly used by rail replacement buses.
There is a stand on the A406 westbound between Bull Lane and the Great Cambridge junction.
Bus stand on Carterhatch Lane on outside of roundabout with junction of Linwood Crescent.

There are 2 stands that are in silly never used before places.
1. Just after Angel Corner heading North second turning by the Capital Restaurant 2. Off Bounces Road in Exeter Road.
Both modern bus stop pole/flag but can't think of any route that would go there!

Park Road, Edmonton. Last regular use I believe was when the 34 was sectionalised for NCR upgrade works in the 1990s. There is a 12"9' railway bridge on the road so I doubt there is much use for it now.\
Enfield Lock Station. Have seen 121s curtailed to said destination in the not distant past but not sure if they use the stand here or run to Smeaton Road and turn round the tower - think the main reason has been to avoid the thick of Enfield Island Village when things have been "lively" there.
edit: pipped to it on both!

Tolworth Broadway, Ewell Road. The stand is never in use, although until early 2013 K3's would sometimes stand there but it was rare. Does anyone know if this stand was ever actually in use for a proper route?

The old S1 bus stand at Mitcham Cricketers is no longer used after its extension to Lavender Fields.

You want to know about stands, quite a few variations / oddities, I will use my area of Kingston as examples
Legacy : maintained but rarely used, eg Birkenhead Avenue (probably from days when Norbiton bus garage existed)
Layover : eg The Bittoms, sometimes used by a spare bus from FW (for 65 etc), avoids the normal stand at Brook Street getting overloaded
School stand : Sometimes with a stop or boarding point as well, eg Darley Drive, off Clarance Avenue, New Malden. used for afternoon school buses starting there, term time only
Pretend bus station : eg Fairfield North, Kingston, officially called Cattle Market Bus station, but no buses with passengers enter of leave it, so its just a series of stands (the stops are on the road outside), no idea why it is called bus station when passengers cannot get on a bus there.
Hidden (or hard to find) stand : eg Dukes Avenue, Ham. Terminus of K5 (and some short 65 workings) Since the road was resurfaced 2 or 3 years ago, now just a pole and flag, no road markings so bus just stops as near as practical, depending on if anything else parked there. No idea why an in use route terminus doesn't warrant bus stand road markings.
Converted stop : eg Hampton Court Green, used by seasonal 267 extension, road markings unchanged so still says bus stop, not bus stand, buses now stop in bus lane instead of the concrete layby.
Turning Circle : eg Queens Road, Richmond (junction of Sheen Road), semicircular, and stands are therefore curved to follow the kerb, not straight. Sometimes used by short workings of 337 (cue jokes about bendy buses to fit the bendy stand)
Forecourt : don't think there is one in Kingston, but sometimes at bus garages or rail stations
Dead : eg Dee Road, Richmond, used to be 371 terminus, but that was diverted to a new one in Sainsburys car park, Manor circus. Oddly the words on the road are painted sideways in Dee Road, unlike most where they are in direction of travel. This one has two red notice plates below the flag, Authorised buses only and one to remind drivers to switch engines off on stand. Presumably non authorised buses, eg trainers cannot stand at this one.
Part stand, Part stop : Another oddity, Clarence Street, there is only a bus stop flag, but half of the yellow box is marked bus stand and half bus stop. Early running X26 wait here (with passengers, so don't stand, just wait) the stand bit has a brick wall most of its length so cant board or alight except on one door buses, eg the 12m Citaros on X26. If the X26 incorrectly waits at forward end of stop, other buses eg 65 can't use the ramp at the stop. There is another little used stand in Wood Street about 100m forward of this one.
Probably other oddities in other areas
You can check them all out on Google streetview

There is still a stand I believe in Aberfeldy Street for when route 309 terminated there back in 1990s

The old Rosendale stand in West Norwood is still flagged but unmarked so buses have got no chance of parking there and the northern end of Old Bromley Road still has flagged but unmarked alighting point with a similar offside stand further along.
