Seems that an operator called Ultrabus have applied for a London Service Permit to run a new commuter service from Muswell Hill to Canary Wharf with no intermediate stops. The vehicle type looks to be rather small though. Only one journey each day for commuter journeys. LSP info

So reading that, "ultrabus" are standing at Atbus (buses etc) yard in Northolt. So yet another trading name for Buses Etc/Coaches Etc/Croydon Coaches

It's a proper pain in the arse of a trip to the Isle of Dogs from Muswell Hill - there is no 'good' way of doing it. Bus to Highgate, schlep it down to Bank on the Northern Line then DLR, or London Bridge then Jubilee. Or W7 to Finsbury Park then via Highbury/Stratford or Green Park, slow and you're standing for most or all of it either way. If this bus can be run reliably I think the prospect of actually sitting down is going to appeal to people. Increasingly you need a job in either the City or CW to be able to afford to live in Muesli Hill so I don't doubt the custom is there to be found. I wish them luck.

As you say the public transport trip is pretty horrible and involved. We have the immiment closure of the Wells Tce entrance at F Park tube which will almost certainly mean queues to get in to the station via other entrances which will simply worsen the journey experience for those using the W7. A direct journey with a seat the whole way would surely appeal to people but reliability and timekeeping will be crucial.

If Ultrabus have to come back and request a variation to the permit for larger vehicles / more journeys then it might get interesting. Of course it would be the second special limited journeys route at Muswell Hill - TfL's 603 being the other one.

The vehicle type looks to be rather small though. Hmm, maximum length 7.35m and 1.77m width. That rules out something like a MPD Dart or Optare Solo. They must be planning on using a minibus based vehicle perhaps like a Mercedes Sprinter.

Technically if your picking up at a bus stop you need to register. (saves on parking tickets) It also means you can claim the BOSG also.

Of course, they'd have to be secondhand for this to happen.

The 705 route number was used in London before, I think it was a replacement for the SL2 simultaneously when the 205 replaced the SL1. It was operated by 10.2m single door Darts but didn't last for long though.
Anyway why is there a restriction to 7.35m? judging by its route there aren't any super tight turns so at least a SWB SD at 8.9m would be fine.
