I get the train from Angel Road daily. There have been workmen on site cutting trees down and trimming bushes along the corridor from Angel Road station for the last 2 months

It will also have a name change - Meridan Water I really hate these name changes - sure I don't live in the area but what exactly is wrong with the name 'Angel Road'. Is it the fact people might confuse it with Angel in Islington!

It will also have a name change - Meridan Water Sounds quite exotic People's hearts will sink when the train dumps them in the no mans land between Northumberland Park and Edmonton Could we see Meridian Water as a final desto on the 341's?

Not to mention the 341 links the areas I guess there won't be any passing loops or 4-tracking? The document says clearly that the alignment and resited station will have provision for 4 tracking so I expect the new track bed will be two tracks wide but with only one track in place. It also says there will be two extra tracks and platforms at T Hale. That would allow a 4 tph service to run as trains would pass each other at T Hale. I expect Meridian Water and Northumberland Park will gain one extra platform in the short term but be designed so that an extra platform can be added with relative ease and without interrupting the service. I can imagine that will all be relatively easy to do.

Seemingly will see trains from late on 15 May 2016 when the new timetable starts. There are engineering works prior to 2000 on the Sunday hence the funny start time. Full service on the Monday. [ source - Open Train Times]

[ source - Open Train Times] I took a train through the site on Saturday and having not paid attention for some time was surprised to see the station works substantially completed. I think pax-wise it will do very well fairly quickly.

I've seen a sign at Markhouse Corner showing it is opening in May 2016. Does anyone that passes the site regularly have pictures as I don't pass here a lot and would like to see it?
Also, with the Meridan Water station serving Ikea and the developments around it, maybe the station might relieve route 192. It sounds quite good generally, and theres quite a lot of spare space around the new station to open it easy, while giving easy access into Ikea.

I understand the work has progressed relatively well once workers got on site. Ian Visits popped along in Jan and took some photos. There are possible problems with the Meridian Water scheme because of the proposed train service specified by the DfT which does not match what Enfield Council promised to the developers. The first tranche of new houses is contingent on a train service being provided by a given date in 2018. The extra line that has been specified has been cut back and back in terms of its capacity in order to save money which means half the service has to be provided by main line trains stopping at Meridian Water. That is difficult at peak times and especially so if you have to have a precise x30 headway on the mainline that matches with a x30 headway on the shuttle on the new track to give a joint x15 headway to / from Meridian Water. The DfT deliberately allowed bidders for Greater Anglia some flexibility in timetabling at peak times which breaches the agreement between Enfield and the developers. If it all collapses then Enfield Council will be lumbered with land they've spent millions on and no houses. I suspect that the 192 will only be partially relieved. The new train service will trigger a big surge in demand - it's already pretty busy at only half hourly headways. A lot of people do Stratford - T Hale and then change to buses. The problem for the 192 is that the new Meridian Water station will be the wrong side of the North Circular for the big hinterland around Montagu Road and further north. There are no safe / attractive walking routes in the area so the bus will still have a lot of people using it even if they only go to IKEA and then catch the train! Obviously the new stn location will be attractive for the new housing plus it is likely the 444 will be diverted through the development area to serve it.

Thanks for your reply with the pictures; I've been looking for some for ages and couldn't find any! Now I feel a bit more insured that the work is going alright! Looking at the photo, I don't see why a second entrance could've been built on Lea Bridge Road, bringing the station closer to the 48, 55 and 56 bus routes. If the station is going to be unstaffed, it would only cost a couple of gates extra. Enfield a very ambitious sometimes, but everything should be alright, I recon it would only result in a fine for Enfield! With the relief of route 192, it would be probably only relieve the section between Tottenham Hale and Ikea. I think that people will use the railway to connect to Ikea instead of route 192. With post Ikea, the Angel Road station is apparently one of the littlest used stations in London, so will probably only receive a small increase in passengers on this section.

(This is just me going off the 2013 masterplan for the area) it shows MW Station having its main entrance to the south of the A406 (also mentioned on page 103). Also Page 104 shows the 34 / 192 / 341 / 444 all serving the development. With the 192 serving the new (elusive) Lea Valley busway, the 341 having a health extension to at least Crooked Billet and the 34 and 444 possibly taking a detour via 'The Causeway'.

Thought I'd give my 2p worth as I use the Angel Road to Stratford Monday to Friday and Tottenham Hale to Stratford at weekends. (No trains serve Angel Road at weekends or outside peak hours).
The new station at Lea Bridge has progressed to point it now has new platform edge paving tiles. A fence at the back of each platforms.
The lifts are still a work in progress as is the station building.
No signage or working lighting as yet.
As I write this I'm on board a 192 arriving at IKEA! The new station (it it gets built) would relieve some congestion for those that go to IKEA, provided this service is well advertised and service levels are decent.
Most passengers that board at Tottenham Hale trace further than IKEA and the bulk of the passengers have alighted as soon as the bus turns into Town Road.
In the CR2 consultation, i suggested a station is built in between Angel Road and Ponders End (as there is quite a long gap) to provide an alternative to Edmonton Green as this is only going to become more popular.
The 192 has had some improvements, not in capacity or anything similar... (I say improvements tongue in cheek). The ibus for hail and ride has had more stopping points added with road names and sections added to the visual part such as Hail and Ride Edmonton Green Asda and Hail and Ride Angel Road Station. There is no audio yet and clearly a few bugs in the system as the asterisk symbol appears suggestion the new stopping points are no aligned properly.
