So far I have spent a week plus a few days in service, anyhow, I was dreading my first turn around as I was still a bit green and how to handle the i-bus....what with my mentor telling me to MAN up (sexual discrimination on his part), he tells me that back in his day he learned 4 routes in one day and I will learn by my mistakes" So, I figured his angle was to get me signed off ASAP, I figured that straight off the bat.... anyhow.... despite feeling pressured to sign myself off with signatures with pen to paper and a rush into service, I ended up signing myself off without really knowing 100% my route curtailments etc due to pier pressure.....though I still find myself trying to find my feet with procedure etc. To cut a long story short...I had my first curtailment 2 days ago and another the following day during rush hour... I have no problems with log cards/blind changes etc, my only question is..... ...Do I hit the curtailment button on the i-bus when I get curtailments...so far, I pretty much ignore it....just a blind change and log my lost mileage

I would strongly suggest that you do, for 3 reasons from a driver's point of view.
Firstly, by doing so it will update the internal bus announcements to the new destination, e.g. instead of "1 to Tottenham Court Road", it will now say "1 to Bricklayer's Arms" so passengers are aware.
Second, it will also update the live countdown at bus stops and mobile apps to show the bus's destination.
Third, it will sign off your trip upon arrival at your last stop, and the loading screen for the next trip back will appear on your ETM... Which you can also use as an indicator to where the last official set down point is if you are unsure yourself.
There are howevers...
- You do not get the option to program any curtailment on any last trip of a bus of the day. So if your running number is due to finish at the end of the trip that you are driving, and the controller curtails your bus for whatever reason, the option will not be available on your MDT. Depending on the situation, I would turn off the internal announcement altogether to avoid passenger confusion and take it from there. (Bus settings button, then display with line across it button)
- There are times when after pressing the curtailment button dozens of times, it will not go through for whatever reason. Usually something to do with the controller not authorizing it or a bad connection.
- Remember to print off a load of transfer tickets for the worthy and deserving few before reaching the set down stop at your curtailment destination. As mentioned earlier, the machine will sign off your trip, and you will not have the option of printing them off during this period.

Agree with the above. Make sure you change your MDT too - it'll save you a load of grief in the long run. If you're not entirely sure, ask us on here how to do it... Sounds like this forum is way more useful than your mentor!

When you cannot enter a curtailment into the iBus because its your last trip etc remember at the terminating point to log off the MDT and also go into the ticket machine options (red button) and press end journey then enter. If you dont the ticket machine stays on as normal and im not 100% sure the bus may still appear on countdown

You really don't need to printout transfer tickets ready, if you put the machine into the menu ready to print transfer tickets after the stop before you curtail then it will stay in that menu when you reach your curtailment point. That's my way anyway.

I find that being unable to add a curtailment on the last trip really annoying as well, I do the same and turn off the announcement but it's still showing on the countdown you going the full journey.
Ridiculous in this day and age of technology.

It doesn't allow unofficial curtailments and curtailments are only allowed in the directions listed in the route record. The bus' last trip of the day whether the driver is finished or not doesn't allow curtailments, it always expects the bus would go to the end of the route then run light to the garage.
