The tunnel remained closed this morning, due to the discovery of a damaged cable (signalling?). The line is now open but trains are operating at a reduced speed. Trains will operate to a temporary timetable until Sunday 7th August with fewer trains at London suburban stations. There is further work to finish off in the tunnel but this is scheduled for overnight when trains are not running. Yep, I experienced that today - the usual all stopping service to Victoria from Orpington was semi fast stopping at all stations to Penge East, then missing out Sydenham Hill, West Dulwich & Brixton but stopping at Herne Hill It looks like the 2tph Victoria to Bromley South via Penge East services that don’t go to Orpington are only going as far as Beckenham Junction now. I did see some trains running from London Victoria and terminating at Bromley South today? Oh really, was it during the peaks?

Seems like Southeastern is doing it different to former parent company Southern - Southern stripped capacity by scrapping the 455's and reducing train lengths on the 377's on a number of services (I did lose my direct Caterham train last week but Beckenham Junction trains were reintroduced at a higher frequency post pandemic and some of the former Milton Keynes to East Croydon service has returned, albeit from Watford instead) whereas Southeastern are scrapping services instead but presumably keeping train lengths? I thought the author was quite harsh on calling the 465's "clapped out 30 year old trains" - personally, I think they are still pretty good even at their age and certainly better than 376's with that horrid interior

They’re other changes too, Hayes is now going to be all day Charing Cross, The rounders will be all Bexleyheath now, no more Sidcup rounders, still unconfirmed as to whether the Woolwich line keeps its off peak Charing Cross trains, there’s been no document so I can’t link this but some insiders over on the Rail forum, pointed out that the Blackheath-Woolwich link wasn’t mentioned, which is worrying the link to Blackheath and Lewisham is a lifeline and these are the busiest trains on the Woolwich line, I’m hoping the document will be produced soon, as neither Murkey nor those on Railforums have provided on.

I think the idea is to reduce conflicting movements on the Lewisham crossover although Bexleyheath line users aren't going to be happy.

Well, if they keep CX on the Woolwich line (which I doubt) then Blackheath will still get those trains, but nothing has been mentioned about that, there’s concern that the Woolwich-Blackheath route may become peaks only, which is bad since this service is extremely popular still even post Lizzie Line

This is bad news then if the Woolwich-Blackheath link is broken, the train is now the only way those in Belvedere, Abbey Wood & Thamesmead can get to Lewisham, plus a one seat ride to Charing Cross.

So the Cannon Street rounders via Sidcup & Woolwich Arsenal are no more? What will replace those 2tph services on the Sidcup line, and also they are needed so we can get to Lewisham for the DLR. I’m personally annoyed as I often use the service to get to Erith with my bike so I can ride along the Thames to Greenwich.

I think the Sidcup line will this pattern CX-Gravesend, fast to Hither Green then all stations, except Albany Park CX-Dartford, fast to Lewisham, all stations There will now be 2 rounders from the Bexleyheath line to the Woolwich line, apparently this is to improve links to the Elizabeth line which is pure nonsense, it’s much faster by bus from Bexleyheath to Abbey Wood, and from Eltham to Woolwich, yet Medway and Gravesend STILL only get 2tph connection to Abbey Wood. In short this timetable is really really bad for everyone.
