See someone with LT316 yesterday trying to outrun a E400H City, lol. LT's not as fast as the HA's So was that you on the 106 then, an LT has no chance of keeping up with a Hybrid Enviro

Does it hold enough power to carry it's elephant-like body faster than a Gemini/B5LH? A good LT will accelerate at around the same pace as a Voith Euro 5 Diesel Enviro 400 maybe slightly quicker, A good LT will keep up Arriva's HV's due to the short gearing but over 25mph and the HV's will take the lead

Does it hold enough power to carry it's elephant-like body faster than a Gemini/B5LH? They are fast, but like most hybrids its down to the configuration set when manufactured or altered after. The prototype LT's had different MAP's loaded to the ECU, one was extremely fast off the mark. However that doesn't seem to have made production batches. They all reverted to a standard map in the last few months. It was also to do with fuel consumption and battery trials. I also remember the batch of E400's that are now on the 56 when they used to be on the 15 they went like a bat out of hell from the mark. Seems to have changed from when they went ADL Harlow for refurb, they are not that fast. I would not be surprised it is to do with a new ECU remap that ADL were offering to improve fuel consumption for the E400H euro5.
The Arriva HV Gemini B5LH were very fast to start with. But many have their SCR emission light on reducing the power output of them and are not that fast. Its a combination of blocked catalysts (Particullate fileters) or blocked up ad-blue injectors.

If the LTs had better torque it would have been another redeeming feature. Must say that I do like the 'hum' of the motors, slightly reminiscent of a euro2 engined Trident.

There were similar alterations when Firstbus got their euro2 engined Tridents. They were initially sluggish when pulling away in first gear, then not too long after they entered service they got a remap and were a lot quicker off the mark. With the 53 reg WVLs* Stockwell got for the 11 it was the other way around, very quick off the mark upon delivery (with 'proper' kickdown enabled) but then restricted within a few weeks....long before I first drove one. As you mentioned the LTs are generally slower in relation to fuel efficiency and seeing as they are still in a limelight of the media and political scenes it may likely stay that way for a while. In saying that they should at least be programmed to deliver more power/torque when detecting inclines, the same way buses generally do with intelligent kickdown.

I remember when First did that to their TN's they did shift with that 4 speed ZF which they spec'd as standard back then.

I'm currently on open loan to Romford (NS) and finally I'm on the 498 tonight, somehow I managed to swap a 11 hour spreadover on the 247 for a 7 hour job on the 498, looking forward to finally getting to drive an MMC

As tempting as it would be to take the bus home I don't think my neighbours would be too appreciative having a bus parked down their road I did however manage to return 10305 safely back to NS and what a lovely machine it was to drive, I'm amazed that ADL have built a half decent bus, with great visibility and it really is focused for the driver the only thing that lets it's down is the typical ADL ride quality but it is an improvement on the Enviro 400. Almost effortless to drive, the brakes are great and effective, there is minimal delay despite everything going through a multiplex system which normally has some sort of delay of the driver controls but none is apparent except for when you want to kneel the bus, other than that it's just great, doors are really quick. I'm also on the route every night until Friday

Why not? It was know when LT ran GS buses to lightly used locations, it was known for the last duty to end up at the drivers front door
