You seemed to be in a rush to get back to Leyton yesterday on the 55, lol. Thought that LT would soon spread its wings ready for take-off No Greenroad events were recorded for April the 5th so can't have been going that fast didn't see you, guess you were on a 106 ? That Green Road Drive Green thing is a pain in the ass. I remember you could fool it if you took a corner hard but took your foot completely off the pedals, the same as when you went over speed humps; it would then never create an event. I was the old guy with the walking stick trying to catch your bus, but you drove off before I could even reach the doors, lol

In further reference to the original post of this thread. The Stagecoach training has changed slightly. In your first week, you now go nowhere near a bus. it's all in the classroom revising for your Theory. I had my theory today, and got 96% on Multiple Choice and 89% on hazard Perception. Very chuffed with myself.
Module 2 case studies tomorrow, then Monday I will be off to Catford or Plumstead to start my driving.
Aside from the boredom of revising for the theory, it's been quite enjoyable so far - and we've not had anyone drop out of the group yet.

Aside from the boredom of revising for the theory, it's been quite enjoyable so far - and we've not had anyone drop out of the group yet. We had the same with our group too. Who's been leading the theory class for you? Thought I'd add my experience in as I've now been at RM for a month. I have to say the job is totally different to what you expect it to be but in a good way. Training was intense but got you head in the right place. Every hurdle you knew if you weren't good enough then bye bye, you'd be on a channel 5 programme within 6 months. Now for graduation. Garage life is totally different to training. RM certainly has to be a very chilled and relaxed garage with some great personalities. You definitely settle in very quick. However I found the transition from learner to lone driver really nerve wracking. Once I did get over that (which was very quick lol) I really started to enjoy everything. The most important aspect is getting used to the vehicles. Now no slant on Stagecoach but the training fleet is maintained to remain legal. They're not brilliant vehicles at all. I drove 17396 (odd brakes), 17395 (small hole in windscreen seal making a whistle when doing over 25mph) and 17398 (vehicle I passed in but has no guts what so ever). The change from these to E400s and Scanias was immense. However you do get very used to the vehicles and you decide which you prefer like you would when driving cars. Now at RM we have a small batch of EuroIII Tridents. Most have ALX400 bodywork while one is Spirit of London aka 19000. At this stage in my career I don't want to drive her. For me it's a huge responsibility considering what she represents. Maybe in 6 months time yeah but not right now. I did, however, take 18466 out for a spin last night. I've always loved these buses as a passenger and had them as my second favourite batch after the V***MEV batch. That view has just been reaffirmed as these are beasts to drive! Without a doubt my favourite bus to drive and that was in the dark and trying to adjust after having an E400 for my first half!. What I will say to anyone thinking about doing the job is this, do it for yourself. Loads of drivers will say it's awful while others will say it's a job. All I can say is that you make it what it is. I've always had a smile on my face and I've had no issues from passengers. Had an egg thrown at me last night at Rainham War Memorial but no issues. Yes it's not easy at times with your mindset, but that's all it is. If you think you can do it then go for it!

DONT DO IT, you pour souls don't know what your letting yourselves in for. I could think of over a 101 reasons not to be a bus driver. You are virtually the bottom of the TfL chain.

We had the same with our group too. Who's been leading the theory class for you? It's been a bit weird really, because no word of a lie when I say 'nobody', I mean nobody! Since Tuesday, we've just been dumped in the computer room, sofas downstairs or the canteen (usually the canteen!) and told to complete all the topics in the multiple choice and then keep taking mock tests until yesterday when we done the real things. We had an hour with the training manager yesterday afternoon showing us what to do regarding the case study and that was it. Today, I got in at half 7, sat in the canteen until 10:00, had the case study test about quarter past ten, passed that in around 15 minutes, and then went back down to the canteen until 2:00 where we had our City and Guilds induction with Malcolm. Start my bus training Monday at 6AM in Plumstead. I'm looking forward to it. DONT DO IT, you pour souls don't know what your letting yourselves in for. I could think of over a 101 reasons not to be a bus driver. You are virtually the bottom of the TfL chain. It's something I wanted to since I was a kid. I'm 42 now, if I don't do it now this chance has come up, I will never do it

I would advise anyone that does do it, don't stay more than 4 years at it. It just is not worth it anymore.
