Has there been a TfL policy change whereby the metal plates showing the Countdown bus stop code number are being removed? Seen two instances on Twitter of a new paper travel info panel being put in the timetable panel frame where the code number can be written and the metal plate being removed. Unfortunately the stop code number hasn't been written on the notice meaning passengers have no ability to get a text sent or use the code on a website / app.

I'm yet to see one of those travel info posters with the number written in.
Unsure that is their intended purpose, my understanding was that they are to draw attention to the plate, and not to replace it.

Seen many stops having their countdown plates removed. Some bus stations have the paper countdown info at bus stops including codes. Many bus stops which have no countdown/had had it removed/ New bus stops have paper countdown info inside the actual shelters. Not sure about a new policy but seeing stops with blank paper countdown and no screen sure do get on my nerves. It seems that a lot of busy bus stops have either had their screens/plates removed over the past year and less used stops are given better access to countdown facilities.

Well thanks snoggle for this, I will look out for this further nonsense. I have been constantly complaining about the removal of facilities such as bus shelters (e.g. Park Road on Church ROad), and countdowns. I have been emailing TfL to get a countdown for the Walthamstow Market stop, as it used to have one. THey have said that they wont do this which makes me angry considering there was two there before. I am considering whether I should take this further. However, if they are now removing the plates, this will be further nonsense. Passengers have had to deal with alot of delays lately as well and so they cant be doing this surely. Lets hope this is some odd instances.

They did the same in Brixton about 5 years ago - most stops approaching Brixton have shelters and countdown screens or at least one of the two things, but the actual 6 stops at Brixton Station have just one shelter and no countdown screens between them

Submit a Mayor's Question about the Countdown display issue via Jennette Arnold (AM who covers Waltham Forest). It will be especially excrutiating given that a total of three displays used to exist there and now they've gone. Make sure you emphasise the loss of previously existing facilities. Something rings a bell in my mind that this issue has been raised before and TfL promised to reinstate the displays. Double embarrassment factor if that promise can be tracked down. mondraker275 Oh dear oh dear oh dear my memory was correct. questions.london.gov.uk/QuestionSearch/searchclient/questions/question_275060TfL reneging on promises made by the Mayor. Someone is in deep doo doo.

Someone is in deep doo doo. Well, well snoggle, your my new hero! What a memory you have and what a great find. I guess we just may get it back. I remember when they were just about to complete the works, they began paving the new payments, and I noticed that they were not planning to put a shelter in. I called the manager at Riney to remind them that they need to put a shelter. Then less than 24 hours later TfL van turns up, and they began creating the space for the shelter. I guess they now cannot be bothered to dig up the new paving to install some sort of power line the countdown needs (but I do not know).

Recently I've noticed a lot of bus stops have had their countdown screens removed, such as at Whitechapel Station and at Aldgate, but there's only been one instance where the 5 digit code hasn't been there and that was a relatively lightly used stop.
