Hey, I was wondering what was the last bus route in London that TFL introduced and has kept as a regular daytime/night bus route? I see they don't introduce many new routes that's all Cheers if you know

Its actually the route 663 For an actual Service route N113 I think 29/06/2012
The Next one will be the N199 on 12/09/2015

I think is Route 324 which was introduced from 23rd October 2010. Ignoring temporary routes like the 541 or 560 then I agree the 324 is the newest daytime route. The 395 is next newest route although that grew out of a rejigging off several routes in the Greenford area. The newest night route is the N113 but that grew out of a rejigging on the N13 service. The OP is correct that TfL isn't exactly overflowing with new route ideas but that's largely the result of the budget for such changes vanishing after May 2008. TfL has also (largely) abandoned the old London Transport thing of tinkering with routes all the time in order to save money / close down garages etc. That's largely because the issue it faces is one of growing demand rather than rationalisation. The last major expansion of routes and frequencies was with Ken Livingstone's tenure at City Hall and a big programme of changes in 2002/3 with some following later on. The attachment is the consultation document from those changes in 2002/3. It is worth saying, though, that not every idea from that time made it into service and TfL did axe a number of night services despite them carrying larger numbers than many routes do today which TfL seems happy to keep running. And no, I don't understand how that works either! Attachment Deleted

There is a proposal for EL3 in East London There have been some school routes like 662 (a re-route of a 665 bus), but this uses roads already served by buses. I cannot think of a route which was completely new and didn't share part of the route with other bus routes, probably got to go back decades to find one.

I recall the 228 to be quite recent however I can't remember when it came into service (2008?) anyway it uses quite a lot of roads which were not previously served so it's probably the most recent original bus route. Original meaning not a re-introduction of a past route.

Original meaning not a re-introduction of a past route. The 324 was introduced after the 228 and it serves a decent number of new roads and provides new links. There's no point in changing the definition of the question just so you can give a contrary answer.

But even during the Ken years most new routes were only split off ends like the 333,363,430,436 etc or were renumbering of sections overlapping sections like the 253,427,432. The 493 was one of the few completely new routes back then.

The 493 was one of the few completely new routes back then. And I didn't say it wasn't like that. We did get brand new routes like the 129, 205, 148, 360, 324, 493, RV1, 388, 414, 452 that gave new links in the network and made a series of journeys more convenient for people. Yes all of these part overlap or part replace other route sections of established services but it is near impossible to create a route in London that is entirely on previously unserved routes. We also got TfL take overs of one or two cross boundary services like the 370, 406 and 498.

Wouldn't the next new one be the 433 in selsdon? It's just a renumbering isn't it? Nothing else changes. You could half argue about the 359 but that's just a major extension and increase in frequency. If anything New Addington's scheme kills off services more than it creates.

EDIT: Just checked on Londonbusroutes.net the 415 contract is March and the 135 is May. Making the 135 the more recent of the two I would have thought the 425 is the newest double decker route, the route started on the 05/07/08, following the withdrawl of the old S2 route and introduction of 425 & 488 respectively.
