Southern Railway is withdrawing its last class 455s from service at the May timetable change. On Saturday 14th May, the last day of operation for the class, a special "Farewell Railtour" will operate with 2x455/8 on a circular route from London Victoria taking in Epsom, Horsham, Three Bridges, Hove, Brighton, Lewes and London Bridge, then an interesting trundle round the South London suburbs as far as Sevenoaks. Tickets for the train, daubed "The Metro Maurauder" are available via the Branch Line Society. branchline.uk/fixture.php

Gatwick Express is running again now. I’d assume it’s just a result of natural service demand shrinking and tightening of other services to free up other 377s.

The overall service is to be reduced by 20% which means Class 377’s freed up by reductions replacing Class 455’s. It’s unrelated to the Class 387’s & the Gatwick Express.

Which Southern services are being reduced, other than the Milton Keynes to Croydon route? I think it's more likely to be a case of services and train capacities not returning to full pre-Covid levels, especially at peak times.

Which Southern services are being reduced, other than the Milton Keynes to Croydon route? Is that route going? It’s being reduced to peak only for the time being, and if memory serves me correct the plan is to run it from Clapham to Watford, not beyond.

Will Thameslink trains run to/from Orpington on Easter Monday? Evidently not. I looked on National Rail. While basically a Saturday service, all the Orpington - Bromley South trains are South Eastern. Thameslink will still have their service to Sevenoaks though.
