For sure, always better to get onto the crowded train rather than be stranded on the platform after you've missed it If we are going for the lowest denominator you win ... but I expect more from a train than what London Overground offers Given many other areas would kill for a 5 car Overground service, I think your being rather over dramatic

And that is regarded as a plus? For sure, always better to get onto the crowded train rather than be stranded on the platform after you've missed it Not forgetting the goblin they had some 4 378 car trains. I'm sure Southern will cope with a 4 car unit. (Clapham to Watford service)

I thought the Clapham to Watford service runs as a 8-car service It’s now reduced to 4 car during off peak hours The Clapham-Watford service is currently only operating in the peaks until the next timetable change - so is only using 8-car trains at the moment. The service previously used newer 5-car 377s (with the updated interior like on the Great Northern 387s), but to increase capacity these were replaced by pairs of older 4-car 377s.

GTR today received the first three former C2C 387’s today. 387303/304/305, fresh out of service with C2C last night were delivered from Shoeburyness to Peterborough Nene Sidings. The three on loan at GWR, 387301/302/306 were meant to arrive on Tuesday but a points failure saw them return to Reading, think they’ll arrive next week.
These six 387’s will be going to Great Northern to release all but 1 or 2 of the Gatwick Express 387/2’s back south.

Today should see the final Southern Class 455’s moving under their own power for the last time as 455804 and 455819 make their final trip from Streatham Hill CSD to Stewart’s Lane for decommissioning and shoe gear removal. All 10 remaining Class 455’s will now be at Stewart’s Lane until their final trips to Newport Docks. www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:55719/2022-07-13/detailedFor those looking to get their photos of the working, there is a 10 minute dwell planned at Victoria so there’s a good opportunity there. Though it is really sad to see the units which sparked my interest in rail and the childhood units of a few of us on here depart for the final time. Barely 2 months have passed since their withdrawal and just 10 455’s remain. All of them should be at Newport by 2nd August if the current pace of scrap moves continue unless one set is preserved.

Looks like the move isn’t going ahead! EDIT: and so it did go ahead, RTT was playing up today. End of an era Tomorrow 455844 and 455823 will be going for scrap, following 455814/822 on Tuesday.

London Victoria Station is to have a £30 million upgrade which will see the number of ticket barriers increased from 86 to 111 (including eight wide ones) to reduce congestion at the station. This will mean relocating some retail outlets, also the Gatwick Express ticket office will move to be alongside the main ticket office. There will also be more circulating space by platforms 15-19. The work will commence in September and is expected to finish in late 2023. The work is being co-ordinated with the Victoria Resignalling Project, so that the most disruptive works will take place when lines in and out of Victoria are closed to passenger services. www.ianvisits.co.uk/articles/london-victoria-station-set-for-30-million-upgrade-56162/
