So basically it is keep your jobs and accept the drivers are now responsible for closing the doors or lose your jobs and go fully DDO ... the latter probably being what they wanted in the 1st place.
So option 1 is what you have been fighying against, option 2 is where you feared it would lead ... big RMT cock up in my eyes. The 1970s dinosaur fails again.

I've read through some of the Tweets- there quite a bit of anti-Southern/pro-RMT sentiment from a lot of people, and to me the whole #SouthernBackOnTrack smacks of desperation. For commuters to actually contribute towards a judicial review is completely unheard of. Normally the agro c2c gets on Twitter is for running 4 car trains in the peak and even daring to run a "Metro" train to Shoeburyness, but no judicial reviews.
For me, the whole franchise has failed- it's failed it's staff, many of whom won't acuually want to strike (see below) but more importantly, the franchise has failed it's customers.
To me, there must be some serious underlying industrial relations problems for the dispute to have escalated so far.

Unfortunately the one organisation for whom it has not failed is the Government and if they are prepared to keep bank rolling GTR and to waive the "nuclear options" on the contract then this will carry on until they have won. It's demonstrably clear the "mess" will carry on until the government decides it wishes to stop. Pity I will most likely be dead in 30 years when the government papers on all this are released. It will make fascinating reading.

The whole situation is absolutely shameful. My blood was boiling this evening. The Southern management are a complete disgrace, not just to the transport industry, but to human beings full stop. This business of terminating contracts, the worry they must be causing people. How dare they treat people like that. They must know deep down that the staff want to do a good job and have the right intentions (safety and good service) behind them. Everything they have done in this dispute is completely wrong and shows no understanding of the workforce or the needs of railway users. Let me guess, they don't have guards anymore, this means the fares will be reduced and they make the other services better to make up for it? Yeah right!!!!!!
This dispute and the actions of the management/government is a very sad time for working people and those who rely on a good service. Words fail me - it was hard enough to string along a few sentences just now and this nowhere near conveys how sad/angry/sickened I am about this.
Just the contempt of it all - many guards are probably people who don't want any hassle - just come in, do job, go home. Having a living. Probably a lot of loyal and dedicated people too. Then their employer turns around with just about every dirty trick in the book, from making them give up their staff pass, to parking permits, swapping duties, then inciting the public to take frustration out on them, try to make their lives unbearable, then try and force them into a corner where their current role is stamped out. It is disgusting on every level. And we live in a country where this is allowed to happen.......completely wrong.

I've always said it - the RMT doesn't give two hoots about anyone but those at the very top of the RMT who continually line their pockets at will. Their members are just pawns in a very disturbing game and they are no better than Southern personally.

Well your opinion is up to you - I've not always been a fan of RMT (and I have very personal experience behind me on this) but this time it's different to other high profile industrial disputes. The evidence that the RMT has said is very moderate compared to the GTR management and their inflamatory ideas.....

Well it says a very great deal about the government's real approach to how workforce's should be treated when it wants to get its own way. We see something similar with other ongoing disputes and it will get progressively worse as more and more tensions emerge over the next 2-3 years. You ain't seen nothing yet. Imagine what happens when they want guards off the SWT network.

Is the Thameslink service that runs via the Catford Loop going to be increased in frequency from 2018?

Is the Thameslink service that runs via the Catford Loop going to be increased in frequency from 2018? Yes - they seem to have decided, subject to the consultation, that there will be two routes - TL8 and TL9. You will note that the tables show a reduced service level on Sundays of 2 tph despite the claim in the bottom paragraph of a 4 tph Daily service. Unfortunately the GTR consultation is riddled with such contradictions and errors. From the consultation document.

Sounds great I hope when it reaches timetabling there are even patterns to create a turn-up-and-go style service. The situation now is a bit of a liquorice allsorts of arrival times (AM From the core trains are 04/32/44/56 next hour 16/46 continues until-) (PM To the core its 04/23/54 next hour 23/54 continues until-). Another hope would be for the Sevenoaks service to be more distruption resistant instead of the sacrificial lamb (so to speak) that it currently is (not speaking on yesterday's major disruption at Blackfriars)

Had my first ride on a class 700 yesterday (700018) was an extremely good ride. It has been the best experience I have had on Thameslink . Although it is an 8 car train as 7000018 pulled into DMK I genuinely thought it was a 12 car unit. The journey was very informative. Those information screens are very useful. What I particularly liked was the ability at the core stations of the doors opening automatically (a capability that would be much appreciated on the London overground East London Line core). Something that was very quick was the change traction supply. The pantograph engaged at City Thameslink and off we sped to Farringdon. The only negative is whilst the exterior is quite striking, the interior of the train liked and felt quite clinical and could do with a small colour injection in my opinion. Completing my short journey to Farringdon, I did not miss the modern luxury of Wifi or Power sockets but feel this would be something I'd expected on a longer journey from Sevenoaks to Central London. I do look forward to seeing more of this rolling stock in London and elsewhere.

Will this mean that Thameslink will start serving London Bridge again or is that still in the pipeline for next year?

Will this mean that Thameslink will start serving London Bridge again or is that still in the pipeline for next year? AIUI only one small element has come into service. That is one extra track which dives under what will become the Thameslink tracks and links the South Central terminal platforms and the down local track to New Cross Gate. This adds some extra flexibility to getting Southern and Thameslink (terminating) trains out from the higher numbered terminal platforms at London Bridge. I don't believe any of the other bits are in operation yet affecting South Eastern or future Thameslink tracks. We have several sets of major works at main holidays to go before it all gets connected together. We won't see any through Thameslink trains until May 2018 with a build up to the full service in December 2018.
