On balance I think I-Bus has been a good development and has helped improve bus services for Londoners. Anyone disagree?

Hmm, iBus is the exact same age as my sister.
I think it's proved to be a brilliant innovation to the transport network.

Is it really 10 years? Times flown as I still remember the I-Bus float vehicles popping up, was an interesting period with good variety.
Definitely a brilliant innovation from my point of view - here's to the next 10 years of it.

It has taken away the most stressful part of being a bus passenger: Not knowing when the bus will come.

It has certainly helped with identifying bus stops as many people (including myself) use bus stop names as rendezvous with family/friends.

I had in my mind it was 2008 - I remember travelling on a 216 towards Staines which had the announcements on long before any of the other routes in my area got it.

I think that it has helped improved the journey for people who otherwise would be unfamiliar to the area, by helping them where to get off. It has also been useful for letting passengers know if a bus has been turned short. Had this been eight or ten years ago, I'd have had a nasty surprise when my 179 got turned to Gants Hill, and indeed the countless 111s that end up running to Hampton Court and Hampton Wick only.
It has also helped countdown services be more accurate, which is a massive plus point.

From 2008 was indeed when the main London fleet started to get fitted, Norwood garage being one of the temporary bases vehicles were sent to. I remember the 152 buses being done roughly a month before those on the 200.

I had in my mind it was 2008 - I remember travelling on a 216 towards Staines which had the announcements on long before any of the other routes in my area got it. Route 149 was the trial route and that is what started on 16/1/06. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/4616530.stmI never experienced the 149 trial but I do remember Tottenham was the first mass installation garage. I can recall the surprise of everyone when the system was working on the 123 I caught to work. There was all the "oh god all this noise" moans and now no-one bats an eyelid about that and people just accept it as normal. I also remember my completely disproportionate excitement when the note came round at work saying staff could test the system of checking bus stop arrivals on their phone or on the web. Of course the info was leaked [1] within 12 hours and then spread like wildfire. Interestingly TfL didn't do anything to switch off the trial system or restrict it. Things just carried on until the formal web interface was set up and then TfL released the API to web developers to allow apps to be constructed. [1] not by me although I was so excited I wanted to tell everyone.

I honestly jumped with excitement when I learned the 57 and 71 and 281 were being operated by vehicles from CentreWest in late 2007!
