428 runs from Erith to Bluewater, not to Lakeside Retires to corner, dons dunce's hat, not always on the ball. I was just trying to fill in a few gaps that others hadn't filled. I think vjaska is right that the 347 just pops outside the TfL area although TfL still provide the bus stops at Ockendon. The 375 goes over the boundary and is still a nice ride which is what I suspect slimjim might be looking for - some scenery. However there isn't anything at Passingford Bridge apart from a roundabout. I'm disappointed in you snoggle I think you are right about the 347

Writes Will, leaves Forum, takes overdose and prepares to walk off Beachey Head. Hark do I hear certain Forum members cheering at this prospect? The 404, 466, 407, 403 and 434 all sneak across the Greater London area in and around Caterham / Warlingham. 405 to Redhill. 166/S1 at Chipstead Valley / Banstead with 166 on to Epsom alongside 406, 418, 467, 470 and 293. The 80 is also outside GL at the prison. The B12 certainly does go outside Greater London albeit briefly. There was an earlier post citing the R1 and R11 as going outside but they don't do this even if the residents of Green Street Green believe they're in deepest rural Kent. 216, 235 and 290 in the Sunbury and Ashford Common areas. Interestingly the 482 and 490 get very close to the GL boundary which is just south of the southern perimeter road. The 203 runs the other side of it in Surrey. It is worth saying that the Quadrant London Bus Maps all show the Greater London boundary so it's easy to be sure.

The R68 serves one bus stop in Elmbridge.
Most picturesque must be the 465 between Leatherhead and Dorking

Roundabout network in Orpington: R1, R3, R5, R10, R11, run outside. Happy to be corrected The R1 and R11 stay fully inside London The R3 ventures out of London just to go round the Hewetts Roundabout, only to enter again as soon as it joins the Orpington Bypass, if you didnt have to go round the roundabout it wouldnt leave, as Chelsfeild Village and Maypole are in the London Borough of Bromley. The R5/R10 do leave London as Knockholt and Halstead are in Kent, while Hazlewood, Cudham and Pratts Bottom are also in London Borough of Bromley.

20, 167, 397 to Debden 428 to Lakeside ahem! - Bluewater 498 to Brentwood Schools 608 to Shenfield 142, 258 to Watford 331 sneaks outside Greater London U9 to Harefield? 464 to Tatsfield 233 to Swanley 107 through Borehamwood 292 to Borehamwood 327, 491, 279, 217, 317 to Waltham Cross Your questionmark against the U9 is merited - Harefield, although very much a village in its own right and surrounded by countryside, is in fact entirely within LB Hillingdon - the U9 route doesn't leave Greater London. As for the OP, if you want a true 'out of London' experience then the 464 to Tatsfield and R8 through Downe are about as good as it gets, in spite of the majority of both being within Greater London. The 465 IMO comes into its own south of Leatherhead but it's a bit of a slog to get to that point!

I had no clue they were within London - though as snoggle said I suppose residents claim they are in the deep rural areas of Kent - which, IMO is probably more appropriate for them to say! No wonder Bromley is the greenest borough (?), what with all of these Kent regions sucked into it?!

With all that information you've just provided, I think we can let you off this time! On a serious note, this is very helpful. So, thanks

I think I'll be taking an end to end ride on the 465 when the weather gets warmer. I have a vague memory of the 216 as an RF. Never attended a bus show but would certainly love a ride on an RF. Thanks everyone for all the fascinating information. So many of these services seem to operate south of London with very little to the north or north west. LUL stations at Amersham and Chesham but no London buses

By 'the zones' I'm assuming you're referring to outside the Greater London boundary. If so then below is a list of routes that venture outside the boundary. Routes marked with an asterisk only cross the boundary very briefly. 20, 80*, 81, 96, 107, 116*, 117, 142, 150*, 166, 167, 203, 215* (seasonal extension only), 216, 217*, 233, 235, 246, 258, 279*, 290, 292, 293, 298, 313, 317*, 327*, 331, 347, 370, 372, 375, 397, 403, 404, 405, 406, 407, 411, 418, 428, 434, 462*, 464, 465, 466, 467, 470, 491*, 492, 498, 549, B12, K3, R5, R10, S1. Can I also include my new route proposals?

Thank you Rmz19. I had the idea that seasonal extensions were very much in the past, like the 116 tootling off to Windsor on a summer Sunday.

I think there are only two left - 215 running to Lea Valley Camp Site daily during the summer months. You suddenly hear lots of German and Dutch accents in Walthamstow Bus Station. The 246 runs on to Chartwell on Summer Sundays. The former 267 extension to Hampton Court was killed off years ago by TfL. Happy to be corrected if I've missed anything.

Lool at suddenly hearing lots of German and Dutch accents I completely forgot about the 267's summer extension to Hampton Court! You've rekindled my memory as I remember it very well now.

Well lots of them holiday at the Camp Site. It's why you get full to the brim 215s heading into Walthamstow at 1000 on a Sunday - all the tourists heading into town. Ditto in the evening when they're heading back "home". When the W11 ran via the Bell Corner it was the advertised [1] link to the William Morris Gallery from the Central. I used to get the 1020 on a Sunday and heard American, Japanese, German, French, Italian and Spanish accents on that departure - they were all going to the Gallery which opens at 1000 on a Sunday. Doubt the W11 sees such exoticism these days since its rerouting. [1] on the Gallery's website.
