Passengers on the eastern end of Bastable Avenue (or Thames View Estate in old money) in particular could travel against the peak am flow for Barking Riverside if timings were right.

Likewise EL2 is (or at least used to be) busy East of Barking Town Centre

Maybe, don't think trims will happens just updates, now that more development can occur after the opening, el1 will just dig deeper and el3 will use new roads. And if anything el4 might come in a few years time because (using Google maps) there are bus stop markings and roads that don't have a service in if any older EL route diverted other places will just lose their service however the problem with this el4 idea is the terminal on the other side not being a good one and it doesn't go through barking either. I hardly think any el route would be trimmed just updated slightly.

Likewise EL2 is (or at least used to be) busy East of Barking Town Centre Again this won't be rapid, possibly a revision to schedules would come earliest by next summer. Any residents living to the east of the shopping parade on Bastable Avenue could feasibly make the switch in the opposite direction to Barking Riverside in the peaks to avoid the crowds and traffic. That's about the point where it's equidistant by bus to both Barking and Barking Riverside stations. If passengers are evenly distributed between both stations in the morning peak in particular, then there could be some trimming. Perhaps 6-7 mins for the EL1, 8-9 mins for the EL2. Once the Overground starts at the Riverside, there should be less massive decants by the Transit routes at Barking and thus would warrant a review of capacity. I'm only being pragmatic in this era of Super Broke: by TfL.

The Goblin becomes the Gobrlin and now more development can now open up and the station Castle Green can be thought about more. Wonder if the station is going to get built Where would it be? As I don't see enough space on the bridge to do so.

Spotted an EL2 regulating outside Barking Station on my way to work yesterday, and single digit passengers on the EL1 this morning just before 6am. Allowing for the extreme temperatures and school holidays, this is very unusual for Transit routes to not come into Barking heaving that time of the morning. I'm somewhat surprised at the rapid modal shift to the Overground at the Riverside but not totally shocked by it. As aforementioned in a previous post, interesting times for the ELT routes & their frequencies.

Wonder if ilford - barking shorts will be worthwhile Scheduled shorts aren't really TfL's style, I'm still surprised the 38's shorts to Hackney Central are still going tbh. Maybe that's me being spiteful for them evaporating from the 25's and 221's schedules... Digression over, can't see it happening on the EL1. At 11bph, a cut to about 8-9bph could better reflect capacity once the dust settles in the Riverside & travel patterns are established. With it being the school holidays currently, the first few weeks in September should give a better picture as to normal commuter journeys.

Although notably the EL1s frequency isn't based on the demand from the Riverside, its based on the extremely high Barking to Ilford demand. Barking Riverside just gets a frequency increase coincidentally. Buses still are heaving arriving from Ilford and any frequency decrease on the EL1 would destroy reliability as buses wouldn't be able to cope.
