Am I the only one who doesn’t like the new buses coming through? Yes they’re good for the environment but they all sound the same. At least Arriva’s HVs sound different from other electric hybrids.

The reason for this is simply because buses no longer have an engine, they are effectively just electricity spinning wheels so all the sound you'll get is just that of the motor which makes the wheels spin and whatever Air Conditioning is on in the background. Hydrogen vehicles are similar as they also technically are electric, just the electricity is generated on board using Hydrogen which is also relatively silent so once again there's no noise from the vehicle apart from the motor spinning up to make the wheels move.

Oh ok. That’s actually pretty smart actually.

Neither. The LEZ boundary is more or less the Greater London boundary (with a few detail differences) - see map here. What is happening from 1 March 2021 is that the LEZ standards for heavy vehicles (including buses) will be tightened to EuroVI, which is the same as the ULEZ standards.
Although many people are saying that the ULEZ is expanding to the whole of London, this is not strictly true. It is the LEZ standards that are being tightened. The ULEZ itself will continue to apply only to central London until October 2021, when it will be expanded to the North & South Circulars. But this will have no impact on buses, because buses will already have to meet the stricter LEZ standards by March 2021 anyway.

The likes of the 5, 32, 37, 102, 178, 185, 266, 321 etc will be impacted by ULEZ - they will have to use hybrids or zero emission buses at some point, even though their vehicles are Euro 6 compliant Routes like the 229, 467, 492 etc won't be affected as they will remain outside of the ULEZ so will only be subject to the less strict standards TfL have set for the LEZ.

TfL have never said that they will require hybrid / zero-emission vehicles within the expanded ULEZ. If they choose to do this, they will have a lot of additional costs to shoulder, given that they have awarded several contracts that (a) specify diesel buses within the expanded ULEZ and (b) run well beyond the start date of ULEZ expansion. This is in contrast to routes that run within the original ULEZ, where the contracts awarded in the years leading up to ULEZ introduction were all for hybrid / zero-emission vehicles, with only a handful of exceptions.
I very much doubt that we are going to see mass conversions to hybrid / zero-emission vehicles in mid-contract. By the time the routes in question come up for retender, any pure diesel buses left will be too old for a new contract (*), so the routes will become hybrid or zero-emission by default (especially with the apparent need to remove all diesel-powered buses by 2030).
(*) - with the exception of route 318, where there is apparently no upper age limit for the vehicles
