I was going through the announcement in my head earlier "next station is Custom House for Excel London, change for the Elizabeth Line-" it just doesn't sound right to me, no doubt I'll end up calling it the Lizzy line.

Do people really say the H&C line & Victria line - I just call them by their proper names. Same with the Metropolitan line - I don't call it the Met. I can't stand it when people shorten names like that. I think the worst is when people in America say "tranny" instead of transmission. There are nicknames too like 'The Drain' for the Waterloo & City Line because of its twisting narrow tunnels under the Thames lol, although calling it the 'WC' line wouldn't be any better

I can't stand it when people shorten names like that. I think the worst is when people in America say "tranny" instead of transmission. If you are referring to the same thing umpteen times a day then names get shortened. As a former LU employee I guess it became second nature for me to shorten names. I just say "Vic Line" or "Met Line" or "Joob Line" or "Picc Line" as a matter of course. I wouldn't add "line" if referring to the Central or Northern. I assume you and several other posters will now go into a rage. H&C is also nicknamed the hot & cold

That was the first thing I found immediately. As well as the lack of NR arrows to show connections (but really?). Also, as Crossrail has been the public name for the project for gawd knows how long (NSE times when it was supposed to go to Aylesbury etc?), people have just gotten used to saying Crossrail already. I could understand if they named it earlier (like, at the ground breaking ceremony), the name would've stuck for longer. Plus I don't like the prospect of riding Elizabeth (line) to Milton Keynes or Northampton (when/if it eventually gets extended there). Crossrail 1 is way too many years late, even if the project isn't, which is why it would reach capacity immediately. Noticed there'd be disabled access to a lot of stations that currently don't have it, e.g. Hanwell and practically most of the pre-existing infrastructure. That's a lot of lifts to install in three years, unless TfL are lying at the moment. And finally, noticed that the Heathrow Central station is called Terminals 2,3 already on the map. But Terminal 3 is going to go pretty soon, leaving Terminal 2 just there. It feels odd having Heathrow Central changing so much from when I was a child, and I'm only 19! It was Heathrow that got me into this hobby (planes then buses etc, circa 2001-2002) (notably the now demolished Queen's Building observation area), and it's Heathrow now that's changing just as fast as I am! Just rename the station to Heathrow Central, then you don't have the weird stuff associated with non-existent terminals, like the tube station!
