The top one looks like a Double Decker chocolate bar, and the bottom is an obvious rip-off of Southern. Well it seems apt that the train fleet serving Bourneville would resemble a chocolate brand of the local chocolatier. I am not a big fan of Southerns livery, but I actually do not mind the London Northwestern

Just worth noting that Abellio took over the West Midlands franchise today and we have the slightly crazy situation that one franchise has two public faces on the web and on twitter. Not the best of starts either given the weather caused enormous problems with staff unable to get to work to drive trains given road conditions in the West Midlands and Northamptonshire.

Thanks for the link. They actually look quite nice compared to the renders.

Why is this in a different livery to the refurbished 172? And why repaint a 170 when it will soon be withdrawn from the WMT fleet. Would be better to simply remove some of the London Midland branding to a plain livery with WMR/LNWR logos, with only the 350/1s, 350/2s, 172s and 139s fully in new liveries.

I’ve been hearing rumours that the livery on 172339 wasn’t the final one, I’m hearing that the livery on the 170 could also be another transitional livery but I don’t know in all honestly, 323209 is supposed to be in it’s new livery now apparently. Repainting of units when they’ll be withdrawn is not a new thing, it didn’t stop GTR repainting the 317s before they were withdrawn neither did it even stop GA from pretty much refurbishing their entire fleet in which they will all be withdrawn, it wouldn’t make sense then to repaint the 350/2s if you’d think that as they’re being withdrawn IIRC.

Only a 350/3 has been refurbished so far. WMT are replacing the 350/2s (as well as the 323s) with the new 730s. Is the repainted 350 the final LNWR livery?
