Ruislip siding to Acton Town is on the Piccadilly Line, so yes they could- although not gauged for either Line (beyond Acton). When you say gauged, do you mean it is different track width. I always thought that the track width was a single UK standard. Didn't the Piccadilly and Central both operated 59 & 62 stock; so what has changed on the tracks since then. I've understood it as there being different clearances between lineside objects/structures like platforms and tunnels. The track width is standard

I wonder if the central line is ever going to be extended to Uxbridge? Why when there's the Piccadilly and the Met going there already?

I wonder if the central line is ever going to be extended to Uxbridge? I doubt it. There would be the expense of constructing an avoiding line and curve around the back of Ruislip Depot and Uxbridge Station would need to be rebuilt to accommodate the extra trains. Also West Ruislip would lose its Underground service - I doubt regular users would be happy about having to catch the infrequent Chiltern Railways services to shuttle down to South Ruislip. The original intention was to extend the Central Line out to Denham, with a new station south of Harefield where Harvil Road crosses the railway line. The creation of the Green Belt after the Second World War meant that the proposed new housing that would make this extension viable would no longer be built, and the line was scaled back to West Ruislip.

The Piccadilly Line only runs a limited 3tph routing towards Uxbridge, wouldn't be surprised seeing it scaled back to Rayners Lane when TFL are looking for additional savings. Diverting the Central Line to Uxbridge in replacement certainly has a strong business case to generate new number of trips particularly directly towards Shepherd's Bush and the West End areas

It has been proposed before: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_line_(London_Underground)#Future_and_cancelled_plansThere's a siding that can mean that Central line trains can divert to Uxbridge. It will link places such as Ruislip Gardens and South Ruislip to Uxbridge which can be a popular shopping destination.
